Suggest a Knife for a Girl Turning 11

baldtaco - I know this sounds nuts... I think she was looking at the T.U.S.K. a few
days ago and - get this - she didn't like the blade profile.

Fiddleback - It is her siblings that you have to worry about making a full on frontal
assault. They love my Beckers. But this one... she might cut you up, but she is more
likely to poison your tea.

Speaking of her siblings (a boy and a girl), my wife noted that while grocery shopping
a while back the younger two were pretending that the grocery cart was a tank and
they were doing some sort of scouting for it, occasionally take a knee or going prone
while looking for any enemy that might be carrying a LAW.

Polymath, hola

I can skate with that. There is nothing sexy at all about it, zip, zero, nada. I feel the same about the basic Wharncliff design too. Highly functional, but... That would be very hard to overlook in something you wanted to prize beyond its mere usefulness.

Pitdog - the WM1 is one of the first knives that came to mind to me also. However,
she would hate the looks of the grip.

Rockywolf - it has to be a fixed blade. Cheap? She is the antithesis of that.

LOL! Sounds like my younger son!

My daughter has the SAK Tinker and the Kershaw scallion. She loves them both.

If she is anything like my EX GF then you are out of luck bro. You better find that knife that she likes or you wont hear the end of it. Yes my GF had to have one in pink only, It better be cute too. Start looking for that pink knife of hers. No she wont realy care what you had to do to get it as long as you got it...............LOL Just to think you got atlist 6 more years of it and thats if some guy would take her off your hands .......... Golly man i cant stop laughing at what you got your self into.......

Yeah, marrying her off is going to be a challenge. I managed her investments
last year and she made 70% gains. I figure by the time she reaches marrying
age some of the candidates will be weeded out by not having as much dough
as her.

Two of her favorite quotes are "buy the best and only cry once" and "never
say keep the change".

Yeah dude. You're in a tough spot. I think your only choice is to find that knife. She didn't settle for the runner up dad. Don't get her the runner up knife.

At first i thought you were kidding about her saving money and investing.... I guess you are not. LumpyMike you got one tough cookie on your hands. I think you should send her to practice Kung Fu. Laugh all you want and i know i make fun of of her now too... But laughs he who laughs last... I think it would be your dauther. She would get far. She would also make you proud. I do say send her to practice Kung Fu....

My daughter is 15 and the only thing on her mind is spending my money at the mall on clothes and fake nails. She can care less for my knives. She does however likes to flip my old PC44 butterfly knife. Hey... it's a start.

Sounds like your daughter knows what she likes. Why not have her spec out a custom blade of her own. There are quite a few makers here who do a great job for a very reasonable price and your daughter would be pleased as puch to have her "own" knife. Here Mtnfolk mike got a mighty fine blade for about what you were going to spend on a barkie and here is the makers link. Don't get me wrong because I love barkies but if you can't find what you want this might be a way to go.
You are going to have to stand in line because after seeing Mtnfolk Mikes knife I had to order one for myself with a few changes of course.:D
Be careful though having a custom knife of her own may spoil her like it did to my boys now I have to lock up my collection to keep them out of it.;)

I just recently gave my daughter a BR Boot Knife, the original design, not the one Mike just came out with.

It's a small knife, it comes with a kydex sheath that can go on a belt or in a pocket. They come in some nice handle variations.
