Suggest SAK Improvements

I'm in the process of writing a letter to Victorinox to suggest some product improvements, and I'd like your input. What do you want to see changed or improved?

1. Make "Plus" or even StayGlow scales for the larger, locking models. I'd love a StayGlow Rucksack or Hunter Plus.
2. Make one-handed locking models that use the slide lock, as opposed to a linerlock. One-Handed Rucksack?
3. On all models with the Hook, make the hook to include the nail file (as on the Compact).
4. Stop putting both the can opener and bottle opener on your knives; replace one with the Combination Tool and get rid of the other. You keep all the functions of both, yet open up space for another implement.

Ideas?

-Put a light on the Swisschamp!
-Allow a custom shop for SAK's
-Find a better way to incorporate the key ring, or better yet, just get rid of it, its either unused or the tools shut on it and get damaged.
-Go back to the old glass style magnifyer.

Please Please tell them to put pocket clips on there One handed Trekkers. They can do it on the Sentiniels, why cant they do it on the Trekkers? Its the same scales. Also a pocket clip would be nice on there alox models.

I'd hate to lose the separate cap lifter and can opener. Mainly I like (and use) the two different screwdrivers. The little one on the can opener works great on Phillips screws. Also, the SAK is my go-to can opener, even at home.

Make a Farmer+ with a pair of scissors. :p

Get rid of the crappy cellidor handle scales and go wit the nylon or some other material that will hold up better!!!

This has been a very long term pet pieve of mine with sak's, the cellidor scales. If you get the wrong stuff on them, they melt or deform. And the newer scales feel hollow and cheap. I've seen knock off stuff out of China with better plastic scales than the sak's have nowadays.

The scales are just one reason I switched to alox.

AND BRING BACK THE CADET II!

Or even better, put the soldier awl on the cadet. A lighter weight scaled down compact soldier for urban comando's. :)

Now that, I'd go for. I don't really like the heavier Soldier in my pocket all the time, but the thing keeping me from going to the Cadet is loosing the awl which I use a lot for light cutting.

Add one handed scales to more models or at least make them available. The scales on the Sentinel won't fit the other ones b/c the Sentinel doesn't have a screwdriver/corkscrew so there isn't a cut out in the scale.

A Rucksack with phillips instead of the corkscrew would be perfect.

- reduce the implementation of corkscrew since its getting rarey used. may be just for putting the glasses screwdriver... not elliminated, just reduce..

- make some orange nylon handles (or nice light blue, light green, purple or grey like new spydercos color) on the 84 mm or 91 mm...

- hardened the main blade to 58HC for better edge retention...

- make the small nailfile ala cadet and sportsman more available instead of small pen blade... and make the tip modified to be small scredwriver or glasses screwdriver.. (it would make supertinker or tinker small very superb!)

- make some slide lock available on 91mm models... (or even better, make some models with thumbstud for one hand opening - i know they have to reverse the blade on the right side - but i dont think they want to make their product illegal on most countries)

- agree with the idea of putting the scissor instead of saw blade on the farmer and call it officer hehehe....

- bring back yeoman and new featured scientist...

- bring back scissors on 84mm models (make a new golfer, supertinker small or climber small)

- make some 84mm and 93mm alox with clip on the scalles so they would be more reachable.

- make some special editions with titanium handles, carbon fiber, micarta, G10 and so on on some models for some people that one to upgarde form cellidors and nylon handles...

While I don't agree with every suggestion made so far, some of them are fantastic. That is one of the great things about SAKs. They come in many different flavors. Many of my suggestions have already been mentioned, so I won't repeat. A couple that have been hinted at I will state plainly.

1) Keep the original Soldier/Standard Issue in production. The Pioneer is nice but not the same.
2) Locking 91mm/93mm models would be nice. Perhaps bring over the Packlock feature from the Wenger line.
3) How about replacing Vic's scissors with the Wenger version?
4) Alox 111mm?

I agree about the cellidor handles. Back in 1981, I bought a Vic Spartan for my dad for X-mas, the first Vic knife I ever bought. Years later, he gave it to me when I moved overseas for several years. The red handles on that one were harder/more solid than the ones nowadays. I don't know if the fact that it lacked the toothpick/tweezers had anything to do with it (no hollow space?), but the plastic just has a different feel. It's been accidentally dropped on concrete a few times over the years, and all that happened was a slight, fine crack near the butt end, with no danger of falling apart or coming off. It must have been a different type of plastic. If the plastic handles could be made stronger, while still having the toothpick/tweezers, that would be great.

I also would like to see an awl on the Cadet like the Soldier had. I personally don't like the Cadet's nail file; I have far more use for an awl.

I'd like the metal protrusion for the keyring attachments to be changed so that they aren't sharp and don't protrude so much, as they esp. do on models where the protruding part is aluminum. I feel this creates more risk of wearing a hole in your pocket.

Somehow upgrade the scissors springs, while still keeping available a supply of current ones for current models if they break. By that I mean, make a more durable spring for future models. But not like the Wenger models. I never liked Wenger's scissors, personally, because the spring makes the scissors nod up and down during use, and once they do break, that's it. At least with the Vics, you can get a replacement spring and do it yourself.

Jeesh!!! Now I gotta sit down and send a rebutal letter to Victorinox telling them that the hook is just fine the way it is and that the separate bottle opener and can opener blades are the best choice.

There's enough available options in various models from Victroinox to fill the needs of all but the most picky.

Please, make a pioneer farmer model that has scissors instead saw and nail file instead reamer. It could be called Pioneer Urban.

I have just recieved one of their Pioneer Harvester's and consider it to be ideal. Except I would like it to have the lanyard ring as on the Farmer model.

Some things Id like to see.

-A new alox model that's basically a Farmer except with the reamer replaced with the sheepsfoot blade and a metal file instead of the saw. it could be called the Maintainer or something.

-Bring back the scissors on the 84s and incorperate them on the 93s.

-I think the key rings should be incorperated into the backsprings like on Wengers.

-A half stop on the can opener would be good when using it on Phillips screws.

-make the backsprings on the cellidor models flush like the alox ones.

I would like to see a guthook on the either the Huntsman(makes sense you would think) or even better on the alox pioneer Harvester, just replace the hawkbill blade with the guthook.

Bring back the:
- Scientist
-Yeoman (3 layer)
- Lumberjack
- Golfer (scissor model in an 84 like someon else said)

Make alox scales that hold tweezers/toothpick/pen (at least tweezers)

Make locking models less than 111 mm. I would buy a slide tab locking 84 mm model
