Suggest SAK Improvements

I'm not so sure on combining the can/bottle opener into one tool. I've used this combo on Leatherman Models and they don't really compare to that on my vic farmer. + you end up losing the two tips that double up as a screw driver. that'd be a step backwards IMO.

Make the blades with 154cm or S30V, harder RC of the screw drivers so they don't bend as easily, I like the grippier philips drivers of the leathermans that would be useful on SAKS as well as the longer driver instead of the shorter back philips (explorer vs tinker). Pocket clips would be nice as well as a custom shop/build your own. Also a diamond file/saw, one side rough one side fine enough to sharpen a knife on if necessary like 800 grit.

While I agree that hardening the drivers might be a good idea I disagree about changing the main blade. While as knifeknuts we all like better steel, one of the nice things about a SAK is that if you have too, you can touch it up almost anywhere, even a nice river rock if necessary. I wouldn't want to do that with a harder or more expensive steel. Plus the cost would go up. Maybe they could do 154cm or D2 on limited runs for collectors or some such.

A "Kit" with scales, implements, springs, jig, and high strength micro fasteners. it would be expensive, but you could make your own custom SAK, Possibly having implements available to buy piecemeal, like lego!

Get rid of the sand paper nail files and return to the older style cut files. Make model with a curved jaw cuticle nipper to flush cut those pesky skin tags and hangnails.

-bring back the Cadet 2
-scissors on the farmer, or have the option to include them or not
-custom shop
-I like the steel they use, but 154cm or cpm 154cm would be nice, but this would probaly drive the price up, so maybe include steel choices in the custom shop, to keep normal models at a cheap price

it's about time those clever swiss makers work out a clip fixture,
or would that ruin the current market for sak sheaths?

Lose the cork screw.

I agree wholeheartedly. I seriously doubt that most people's corkscrews get used for anything more than holding a pen. I honestly won't buy SAKs or MT's with a corkscrew because I think it's a huge waste of space.

Also, another vote for a custom shop or kits. A way to customize a tool so it has exactly what you need, and nothing you don't want. It would be more expensive, but I for one would pay a bit more for a truly customized SAK that fits my needs perfectly.

A three layer Stayglow Huntsman in 84mm and 91mm (achieved by losing the can-opener/bottle opener layer, lose the small blade and replacing it with the combo tool).

Also take the above new model add one extra layer, pliers added, so four in total.
And then duplicate that new 4 layer model in Alox.

Sell replacement stayglow scales in all frame sizes! preferably with the plus option!
Bring back the Cadet II!
Bring back scissors for the 84mm!
Offer alox models with scissors! Farmer with scissors would be awesome!
And how about an Alox OHT? I know Swissbianco did a prototype a few years back but never offered them for sale.
Alox OHT without serrations preferably and a reversible clip (tip up or tip down carry).
All parcel hooks should have the nail file.
And please please please dump the swisstool Spirit scissors from the Spirit and put regular Victorinox scissors in there!
Personally with SAK's i prefer the corkscrew to the philips and like the key-ring/lanyard ring just fine.
:)

They are completely different.
The Leatherman combo tool is barely functional, however the Victorinox combo tool works very well!

My dream SAK...

Simple...

Bring back the old Vic soldier...

Drop the can opener and fit in an inline phillips screwdriver instead...

Let's see...main blade, awl, bottle opener/large screwdriver/wirestripper, and inline phillips...that's about perfect for a work knife...

Ohh...and put back in the hollow rivet, maybe make a bail available for insertion for those like me that actually likes them...

 NOOOOOOO

My traveling knife is a Compact and the cork screw gets used pretty often. The cork screw has been a SAK fixture since 1897, it's a tradition. It seems like most models with the cork screw have a counterpart with a Phillips driver instead.

It's funny, I replaced the plus scales with regular ones because I didn't want the pen.

I 2nd this design although I would consider replacing the bottle opener with the combo tool. Maybe. I too am a big fan of the option of a bail and forgot to mention it in my original post, (although I did say keep the original Soldier in the line up)

YES, Yes, YES, YES, YES, YES, YES!!!

Imagine one handle from a Vic Spirit, just scaled up and shaped like a knife handle. Imagine it with tools and a lock on each end. And a one hand opening blade.

So, it would be a one hand opening locking knife with all of the tools of a Vic Spirit (minus pliers).
