Something that rarely gets mentioned is that you can hold the knife with the Armorers Tool engaging the pivot with one hand. That is a bit harder to do with a screwdriver or other homemade pivot apparatus.

Very good point. Don`t know if I would be able to assemble/disassemble a knife with just two shorty screwdrivers or something. I imagine it would be awkward trying to hold the knife, as well as the screwdrivers at the same time.

Very difficult dance to do well with a homemade screwdriver spanner tool (even if it can fend off a mouse attack)
I was very much wishing I could do what Mike points out as I contorted and cursed my way to replacing my scale.

Yes, this is very correct and great thing to point out.

YYYYESSSSSSS!!!! I have to say I finally just nailed down my very first Hinderer. Lets just say that I am going to have to sell several Benchmades, a Chris reeve umnum, and some other items to pay for it. But I had to see what these were all about.

In regard to all the posts!! Lesson learned is that I will cough up the dough and buy a Hinderer tool. I touched base with Rob through email and he says Hinderer is all out of the tools for at least a month. Oh well... Perhaps one will pop up. I am not spending $175 for a flamed ti version even though it is pretty sweet. $75 I do not mind so much, but $175. I think I will wait a month to see if Hinderer posts the SS version up.

So, I have another question. I have noticed the demand for these knives far exceeds the supply, thus driving up the price, does the XM24 retail from Hinderer at 800-900 for a regular XM-24? I suppose that is the next logical purchase step. Its so bad that I have yet to get the XM18 in my hands and I am already planning my second one.
