Suggestions? Folder in Abe-l, 14c28n, or Nitro-v.

Your right, I just think 14c28n with a harder than "average" heat treat might be a better performer for my taste than some of the newer powder steels.
Maybe, although the average heat treat seems (at least anecdotally) to be pretty good. The question is, are you willing to pay a premium for something that is most likely going to be some sort of custom knife, and also not guaranteed to be much better or better at all than something much cheaper?

When it comes to Southern Grind, I prefer the Spider Monkey to the Bad Monkey. It's slightly cheaper smaller, with a 3.25" blade, and it has contoured scales instead of the slab scales on the Bad Monkey. It has a high flat grind and comes to a nice thin edge with S35VN steel. Based on your initial post I think you'd like the Spider Monkey better too.
I agree. I like the geometry of the Spider Monkey better as well. I have a fixed blade in S35VN. I really haven't used it enough yet to form an opinion. I suspect it will chip easier and be harder to sharpen than 14c28n/Nitro V (with a higher HRC). Will S35vn hold an edge longer...probably...are the trade offs worth it...I guess I will know more when hunting season rolls around next fall and I can really put the fixed blade through the paces.

A big thanks to everyone! As expected you were all very helpful. Bikerector has very kindly shipped me a Ruike in 14c28n. I also ordered a Manly City in 14c28n off Manly's website last night. As near as I can tell its their Wasp with a locking blade. I'm sure shipping from Bulgaria will take a while, so I'm hoping to have a good feel for the Ruike by time the City gets here. They City will have the blade geometry I was looking for and I hope a little harder hrc. It will be very interesting to see how much, if any difference I perceive in the blades. I'll save my pennies and maybe I will find a custom maker for a harder comparison blade in the future...Maybe as some have suggested I'll be content with the performance of the production 14C28N blades. Although, if man was content with good enough I think its safe to say there would be far fewer blade options:-)
