I am planning to buy an overbuilt folder that feels powerful when held. I recently picked up Medford Praetorian Ti owned by my friend and holy god it just filled me with a kind of strong feeling. I then started browsing previous forums and came up with a list of folders.

Grayman DLC Satu Ti-Ti
Medford Praetorian Ti
Crusader Forge FIFP
Dalibor Bergam
William Woods Titan
Carson Tech Labs Evolution
Nocturnal Knives FFTS
DireWare Solo V4
Cold Steel 4 max
Extrema ratio rao 2
Demko AD-10

I am planning to buy only 1 knife so a bit relaxed on price. The blade should be thick and overall knife heavy. As I have no way to hold these knifes without actually buying one, please suggest which knife will be best for me.

I understand that some of customs have long waiting or are difficult to arrange. Thus, I am inclining towards 4-max/AD-10 or Medford as of now. Thank you for help.

Benchmade Adamas
Chris Reeve Sebenza
Benchmade AFO 2
Benchmade Contego

These aren't on your list, but some you may want to consider. As far as your list goes, I recommend the Cold Steel.

Benchmade Adamas and look no more . The Adamas in my opinion is the best over built knife and this is over the ZT 0300 and the Spyderco Military . IMO the XM18 , Strider SNG , large Sebenza are not over built knives they are just a bigger than average .

Hinderer XM-18 3.5" Spanto grind. IMHO, one of the originators in beefy folders with high end materials

You can have budget power in your fist , with the new Cold Steel SR1! For 150 shipped it feels as powerful as higher priced folders.

Forget about powerful knifes:rolleyes:
Buy a 44 Magnum 6" barrel revolver instead.

Now that's powerful...
I'm not sure the sort of individual that "feels powerful" when holding a Medford should have a gun.

From experience, since a Medford catalyzed your purchase you'll probably regret getting anything other than a Medford. He's got plenty of models and all have those same qualities. I'd get whichever you're most drawn to.

They're not my style, but I don't know that I've ever heard a complaint about their quality.

For my lifestyle (urban-dwelling professional) I don't have much use for gigantic, heavy, "overbuilt" folders. But I've owned a few just for the hell of it. They're fun just to screw around with.

The Extrema Ratio RAO was actually pretty good as a woods knife. Sliced well enough (considering the thick blade stock) and chopped really well. The steel was Bohler N690, which isn't a "super steel" but works well enough and is easy to maintain. If you have huge hands, you'll like the feel. But it's too bulky for pocket carry.

The only "overbuilt" folder I have right now is a custom Workhorse by Bob Dozier. Two thick titanium scales, D2 blade, and Dozier's unique T-lock system. It's a giant knife, but the shape of the blade, deep hollow grind, and edge profile makes for a great slicer. And it's actually reasonably sized/shaped for pocket carry. Even though it's big and beefy, it still works for normal everyday tasks, like opening packages and slicing up fruit.
