Suggestions?

Too open of a question, but my current favorites:

Flipper? Find a ZT that suites your style. 0450 and 0452cf are my favorites.

Non-Flipper? My Spyderco Chaparral gets carried more than any other knife I own. Its practical, invisible in pocket, and office friendly. Also, I never leave home without the Manix2 S110v Lightweight in my jacket or truck.

Hoback A10(newer models with S90V blades) or a Ferrum Forge are my favorites. Highly suggest whichever knife from those makers!! Or if you can wait for one to be made, than Mac Wasil knives.

If you're budget isn't too low, you can't go wrong with Zero Tolerance, Benchmade, Spyderco, and a few others. ZT has quite a few assisted opening ones for a decent price. Cold Steel and SOG are also very good companies to check out. I've always loved Benchmade and Spyderco.

Yeah, I have heard benchmark is good

Benchmade and Benchmark are worlds apart. For consistent quality in production knives, stick with what N&K said... ZT, Benchmade, Spyderco. If money really is of no concern. Then heck, just start searching the big dealers with parameters (ie. $500-$5000). You'll find something you like.

But "looking for a knife..." with no particular price, no particular size, no particular cutting needs, no particular material, etc, only limits it down to...well....every knife ever made on earth. ;)

Definitely a wide range haha. There's something about owning a custom though, all that hard work and time put into it. CFK (Custom Knife Factory) make excellent, well proced blades. Some models are around $300.

I wouldnt get a ZT if I was you
If your looking for a flipper with no budget Id say Hinderer hah
There are some beautiful ones that pop up on the sales section pretty often

I'm going to suggest you begin with the best of the 'inexpensive' knives. I'd look at the Ontario catalogue and see what they have. i'd suggest you begin with the Randall #1 to begin. It will last you nearly forever. Personally I have a huge collection and my EDC is a HEST but the Ontario Randall 1 is in my pocket often.

Ok; I may as well throw out some specifics. One of the blades that I would consider to be one of the best mid-sized, mid-priced, light to heavy usage, sweet action, made in the USA.....the ZT 0562CF. Would be a pretty amazing place to start if you can afford a couple bills.

If you want a flipper check out the Freeman 451 BLF. It's got fantastic action and the F&F is comparable to knives a couple hundred dollars more expensive. Jeff Freeman is also making them more and more customizable, with options on handle inlay, handle material, handle color, blade steel and, in an email conversation I had with him he mentioned different blade finishes were likely on the way soon.
