the solution for the hard spring is a competition spring from bond, lowers the force needed to cock and still has plenty of power. An action job doesn't hurt either, I've consistently hit 2 targets in competitions at around .98 sec which was no where near a winning time. Now that is not with self defense ammo even remotely so recoil is going to slow that second shot a lot. Not saying its a perfect concealed gun but it does work. Lots of great choices out there. Just though I would throw that one out for sheer diversity.
Yep, it can be done, it just takes work---when you do the work (as you obviously have) you'll be effective.
To the point about the Sig 238 reliability issues, I know it won't change the minds of those who've experienced issues, but I also have had zero problems--I have two aluminum frame versions and one all-stainless. I think I had a few failures to feed with the first one when it was new, but use has wrung that issue out of 'em. I probably have 1500 rounds through the all steel one by now with no problems, and a couple hundred through each of the others. A worthwhile point about ANY of the micro-380s: long bullets are not your friend. 100 grain FMJ is often not as reliable as a 90 grain HP, because it's the total cartridge length and not the shape of the bullet nose that is seizing things up. I've found the Gold Dot exceptionally reliable in pistols this size. The other king, in my experience, is the Hornady Critical Defense---the bullet actually is pretty long but it's such an extremely tapered shape that it seems to feed in damned near anything. Even my old Colt 1903 Pocket (DEFINITELY not a fan of hollow points for the most part) feeds them.
