Summer fun in Africa

Hi All

Hiking in the coastal forrest and stumbled onto this baby .....

Didn't hang around as they are mean tempered and have the longest fangs of all venomous snakes ...... Gaboon Viper. Only about 3ft long but dia was around 4 inches.

How'd you spot it? Movement?

Movement as she raised her head ... I saw it by pure chance. Not the kind of surprise that makes you all smiley and happy

Wow! I had to look twice to see it! I would of never seen it for real in the wild. Scary good camouflage!

Kwazulu Natal ....... east coastal forrest in South Africa ... close to Cape Vidal

very interesting how the snake is mostly grey/black, yet the forest is green/brown..........interesting discussion about camo colors............maybe there is something to ACU..............
