Hi All

Hiking in the coastal forrest and stumbled onto this baby .....

cape219.jpg

Didn't hang around as they are mean tempered and have the longest fangs of all venomous snakes ...... Gaboon Viper. Only about 3ft long but dia was around 4 inches.

Movement as she raised her head ... I saw it by pure chance. Not the kind of surprise that makes you all smiley and happy ;)

Wow! I had to look twice to see it! I would of never seen it for real in the wild. Scary good camouflage!

A really great pic! Thanks for sharing.

What a cutie! If I saw one like that I would tickle it under its chin and give it a big wet kiss right on the lips. Maybe.

Seriously though, that guy blends in very well. I am glad you were able to spot it and snap a pick to share with us!

There is some comfort in having a lack of bities around these parts :D

Cool shot.

Wow it took me about 30 seconds of staring to even figure out there was a snake in the picture. Crazy good camo!

is that a puff atter? i can see it but cant tell what it is it looks like a snake or is it some other reptile? does someone know?

sneaky snake slithers softly
bites your heel to make you squeal
step aside and let him pass
or he'll bite you in ... a place more crass.

very interesting how the snake is mostly grey/black, yet the forest is green/brown..........interesting discussion about camo colors............maybe there is something to ACU..............
