Summer fun in Africa

There is some comfort in having a lack of bities around these parts :D

Cool shot.

Absolutely!

I first looked at the picture when I got up and I couldn't make head nor tail of it. I see it now. Better you than me Aubrey. :D

At first I thought that big piece of bark was supposed to be some crazy frog or something, then I caught the snake;)

Definitely glad there isn't much in the way of hidey bities around here, though I've got this weird desire to kill a rattlesnake before I die, I just think it would be badass. Plus I wanna eat snake roasted on a stick over a fire, ever since I saw that one episode of Survivorman.

Yup - we don't have to worry about too much here in DE either. No bears, mountain lions, not that much poisonous crap  Just plenty of people, traffic and smog :thumbdn:

That's a pretty cool snake - I probably wouldn't have seen it.

i live in Australia , tell me about snakes lol
usually they hear you coming and run away though.
i leave them alone and don`t try to hurt them.

In Africa ...most play by the same rules with a few exceptions ......

1 - Puff Adder - Too dam lazy to move away ...short and fat and has the fastest strikes in the world (if you believe Discovery) Most bites are ankle height and arid or semi-arid regions. But, normally will not strike if you back off slowly.

2 - The meanest dam b@stard of them all is the Black Mamba ...which is not black in real life. Normally greenish/olive or brownish ...but inside of mouth is pitch black. Packs one of the most lethal venoms after a few that tops it in Oz but it is aggresive and wil attack and push the attack even if you back off. Can be 8-10 ft long so pack a massive dose of toxin and can lift as much as 1/2 off it's body off the ground ...... meanings strikes are often in face, neck or chest.

Snakes I don't kill ....... but I make an exception for the black mamba.

Well spotted! On the farm we recently lost a dog to a Puff Adder bite. Those things are so lazy and even when hiking or hunting one should always have some anti-venom within 30 minutes maximum IMO in this country.

Black Mambas are the one snake that makes my skin crawl. I have seen a heard of Buffalo showing heals when one of those things went close buy them on a gravel road in the Kruger. So if they show heels you know!

Man o man! I missed this gaboon viper post when I was gone! My buddy breeds them. They have the longest fangs of any snake I've seen. His hot GF has a pair of them for earrings

G'day Aubrey

Great pic

I know what you mean about the warmer weather bringing about increased snake activity :D

Kind regards
Mick
