Summertime headgear....

If we all wear tin foil hats we will reflect more sun back to the sky and lower the rate of global warming. That and the voices can't get through. Mac

I wear a straw Wrangler cowboy hat until it's about 5 below. Then I switch to a toque until around 15-20 below, and then I go to a rabbit fur bomber. I love that bomber hat, it's probably the single most Canadian thing I own! Well, aside from my maple syrup stockpile (that's not a joke.)
Yummm maple syrup.....
lol!
Actually i consumed more maple syrup during my 2 years in Ontario than i did in decades of living in Newfoundland.
People just aren't that into it here.
Here molasses is still king.
I'm viewed as kind of odd because of the maple syrup in my fridge ,lol.

When i think Ont. i think maple syrup and Canoes as well.
Ontario-Canoe crazy, Newfoundland?.... not so much.
I was close to 20 yrs old before i saw a canoe in the flesh (or in the aluminum actually, lol).
Everybody seems to canoe in Ont, why theres even a Canoe museum (i know because i worked there for a while).

Some things are really just regional i guess.

I do like toques and fur bomber hats though, lol.

For all you Ho Chi Minh hat wearers I hope there are no armed and crazy Viet Nam vets with flashbacks out in the woods when you wear one of those hats!!!!

Being from Cherry Hill, NJ, Most of the "war stories" I've heard went like this:"back in 1967, I was a young man living in Tel Aviv. Suddenly and without warning, we were surrounded on all sides! Outnumbered 20 to 1!!
We were all called to duty!! And in 6 days,,,,,,,,,and 5 HOURS,,,,we achived a glorious victory over those who wanted to drive us into the sea!"

Not exactly an ambush inthe rice paddies. But after securing the Sinai, booking top speed to the Golan heights is nothing to scoff at either:o

I was only partly kidding with the foil hat. Years ago I bought a "Desert Rhat" from Sequel. It was a white baseball type cap with an oversized bill, good ventilation, and a reflective (foil!) top. It also had a cape that attached via velcro which was good for keeping sun off your neck.
Here is a diagram I found:

and a pic of it in tan:

It was great in the Mojave or out on the water in the hot sun, but it looked aout as stupid as could be. It didn't survive a washing by my new bride.
