Sun Glasses/Shades?

Maui Jim, Oakley, and Revo are the best brands I've owned. I'd give the edge to Maui Jim because the optical quality is superb. I've had mine four years and wear them daily.

I live in Thailand. When one of the dogs chewed one of the lenses and nose and ear pads on my Maui Jim Top Sail. I hd to send them to Australia for repair. They replaced the lens and everything free. The AUS$10 that I enclosed per their instructions on the main Maui Jim website did not even cover the return postage.

It was my second pair of Maui Jim shades (I lost the first pair). Getting a new pair would have cost me almost US$300.

I'm 40 and have had shades on me everyday since I was 16. My honest opinion is that no other brands even come close to the quality of Maui Jim lenses.

Thinking about getting these.

Oakley Five's

I have the Fives 2.0, rounder, I really like them. I just wish they could do the exact same model with a metal frame. I recently checked other Oakley models and nothing seems to catch my attention.

I got the 5's in the mail a few days ago.I tried them on,put them back in the box, followed the return instructions,& mailed them back.
They were way too small.Like they were for a little kid.I can't believe any adult male could have a head so small.
I'm thinking about getting the tightropes, but I need to find a place that sells them,so I can try them on first. No more mail order shades.

The straightjackets fit well on large heads (like mine lol). I know what you mean about some of them being too small, but I've known quite a few guys who wore the smaller models and they fit them perfectly. For my melon the Monster Dog/ Straight Jacket are the best fitting, most of their wire frames work too but the square series are a bit wider than the rest. The Half jacket is for smaller heads, the Flak Jacket is a little wider but not by much. The Ice Pick is one I've thought of getting, haven't tried one on but I'm pretty sure it'll be an easy fit, and it's one of the few models oakley makes with a backside AR coating. I do strongly recommend finding a local sunglasses hut or other oakley dealer to try stuff on in person. Even with my favorite Straight jackets, there's an asian fit and a regular fit, and the regular fits get popped off my face if I smile since they're too close to my cheekbones. The asian fits usually aren't available at stores so I had to buy them and hope they were fit well, and it turned out they were perfect.

Personally, I like Oakley and Maui Jim. During the winter I tend to wear glacier glasses some, but I always head back to my MJ's.

If you buy a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses with glass lenses, you may never need or want another pair!

They are one of the few brands with anti-reflective coating on the inside and outside of the glasses. Their polarized models are the bomb.

It's true...they are above everything else I have ever tried. I was on vacation with my friend and his family last week, and when my friend (who was Ray-Bans) put the glasses on he was amazed at how clear everything was. He said everything looked like it was HD and periodically throughout the week he kept saying, "I can only imagine how they look through Maui's"

yeah, they are marketed mainly toward women i think.

i was going to say something, but you had already ordered them, and i thought maybe you had a small head.

:D

Tall slim guys like me do

A few of my friends ended up buying fives too, and like them as much as I do.

I guess I'm in the big/fat head club.:p:D

I'm looking at the tightropes or the whiskers right now as I prefer the wire-frames.
I'm pretty close to two major malls. One of them has to have a sunglass hut,or similar to try them on.Now to just get over my disgust for malls,I'll be alright.:o:D

You can always find a variety and good prices at The Sportsman's Guide. That is where my wife and I have purchased our sunglasses for over a decade.
