such a unique blade!, love these wavy short sword things!( defanged and new teeth will not arrive for a year or so )

Awesome pictures Auntie! That sword is singing my name but I have to pass. Already got a curved spine on the way... It sure is purddy.

I would email auntie, my first HI blades were on payment plans, so I am pretty sure you can do it? heck I just sent in a payment on a plan :D

Email auntie and ask.

Oops, I guess better not.

Layaway plans are not something we encourage. it's not really fair to Auntie, HI or to the other members wishing to purchase laidaway items and just creates more work for Auntie to keep track of when she has plenty to do to keep things running smoothly.

Definitely don't want to be a bother.

well not to be a counter nancy or whatever-- you know if you are good for it, you are only a bother if you fail to hold up your end of a bargain. auntie wants to sell blades. :d I mean using credit cards is not something I would encourage either, nor is buying land in montana---- but , if two people agree to something and the deal is honored, there is no problem is there?

another fair point is -- borrow some cash right now from someone you can depend on and vice versa and pay auntie in the full amount? either way I just feel bad about discouraging someone from buying a blade that is not sold currently, auntie has already paid for all of it, the loss comes when she does not sell them.

and thirdly if something magically happens regardless of advice or warning, do the right thing and round up anything you buy whenever you buy from HI, because auntie, the kami and everyone involved are really special people that deserve it!

The problem with a layaway plan for a small business (or a one-woman business in this case) is that it requires a certain amount of infrastructure or organization above and beyond everything else. Yangdu would have to put the blade in a special place apart from other inventory, tagged with the buyer's information. She would have to update that information every time a payment is made, which might be at irregular intervals, and the buyer might not be clear about the purpose when each payment is made. Also, Yangdu would not get full reimbursement for a long time, and if the buyer makes partial payments and later on has financial troubles, he/she might want a refund of earlier payments, etc.

It just isn't worth it. Also, nobody really needs a knife badly enough to get into such a situation. If the buyer is desperate it usually means that he/she needs the blade right away, not at the end of some extended layaway process.

If you are dealing with a different kind of business, such as a high-end antique dealer, for example, layaway might be worth it to the seller, but I doubt that would be the case with HI.

fair point , I just think money is money is money; but, honestly I do not think I would own a single HI blade if auntie made me pay right away and up front.-- just because they are almost always impulse buys when I already have no money , nobody needs a pile of knives, but I love having one, but would not have it if auntie asked for full amount every time, nor would I have almost anything I own collections wise, because all of them are frivolous spending.

but I agree it should not be encouraged, but this is a 300 dollar wavy sword; its much easier to tell yourself that is ok if you do it 100 or 150 dollars at a time :D
