As before the email I sent to family and friends...

I go in tomorrow at 9:00 for a CT scan and then for surgery on my neck at 11:00 – 11:30 to repair three badly ruptured discs that are pressing directly on my spinal cord. This is what’s causing the problems with my fingers, hands, arms, and shoulders as well as my legs being shaky along with some other problems. When my neurosurgeon looked at the MRI that was done Thursday he cleared time for an emergency surgery tomorrow.
When we saw him today he told us that I was a walking time bomb and for me to be very careful with my neck! He is pretty positive that the surgery will make things better as he does about 1-1/2 of these surgeries a week and that everyone he had done has been pretty successful although some people take as long as eighteen months before it does, but the majority shows improvement right away. I’m hoping I’m in the majority even though this one has me very concerned. I’m not afraid of walking west but I wouldn’t want to live paralyzed and dependent on anyone!:(

You have my heart, Friend.

Ask for GREAT drugs...that always endears patients to the staff. :D

Wacher..er..neck.

Go for it! This sounds like one of those relatively simple procedures with relatively spectacular results!

I/m looking forward to hearing how well it works out -- just don't go jumping up and running around first day out of surgery. :D

Smoke up, Yvsa. I'm getting a haircut tomorrow morning. That's pretty much the same thing, right? :D

Seriously, take care Yvsa. Tell the Docs to be nice and to do their damndest. But smoke's up, so you have our support.

Hold in there; we're all here.

Chris
