Surprise News at Buck ?

There's a lot to Buck. CJ is a part of the puzzle.. Alot of different people make decisions on the direction Buck goes. Board of directors, marketing, engineers, cost analysts etc.

Even CJ made statements that more USA product offering was the goal, but others get to chime in and there's more offshore knives in this year's catalog. Cj is the face of the company, alot of people steer the ship

Buck has a new president. A few key member's of the Buck team have left the company. Basically the entire leadership of the BCCI has stepped down. With all that has happened, I have some questions. Buck doesn't owe me or anyone else any answers, but I'm sure at least a few of us consumers who have been loyal customers for years wouldn't mind some dialogue on the situation.

Why did Buck sell the S30V/Ebony/Nickel-Silver Ranger 112 as a "limited edition, exclusive" Buck of the Month and then sell it a few months later in the custom store for a cheaper price? Seems like a slap in the face.

Why did Buck cancel the BCCI take apart 112 and then sell it as a "BotM" knife? Members were really looking forward to that.

Why did Buck sell flat-ground, D2 104 blades that were made for SKBlades as a Buck of the Month? Considering Steve (and C&C) were cut off with very little notice, I'm sure they could have used the inventory that was literally made for and designed by them.

Why did Buck switch from very durable DLC coatings to very fragile Cerakote?

Why has overseas production increased, while domestic production has decreased? We were told the opposite was going to happen... and to me it makes more sense to produce things in your home country during Covid.

I'll leave out the questions about why employees are no longer receiving raises, bonuses, profit sharing, Thanksgiving turkeys, and have less than competitive pay for the area, etc.

I wish Chuck were still around.

P.S.
I know posting this here is pretty meaningless, but I figure I'm just as likely (or should I say unlikely) to get an answer from Buck here as anywhere else I ask these questions. Feels good to vent at least.

Fixall Fixall The same questions linger in my mind to and a few other questions. I won’t rehash them here but I’ll probably always have this in the back of my mind and that’s not good for customer relations. I hope things will shape up in a good way.

Brian Brian Brian Brian Brian.....

sigh

Everything is gonna be ok.
Here, just have some kool aide, be quiet and go sit down.

Before they take you off the new products notification email list.

PS. You weren't planning to visit the Buck Factory Store anytime soon were you......?

No kidding. I was almost afraid to post what I did out of fear of being completely ostracized from the sub-forum, and what I posted was pretty mild. There are much more serious questions that I feel customers should have the answers too.

And actually... Yea, we were, lol. Frankly, I'm not really feeling like doing that anymore. It's past time I make a visit to Golden, Colorado anyways.

So it's coming up on a year with Lane Tobiassen in the president's chair. How do you all think he's been doing?
Well..... during the past year, a lot of dissatisfaction with Buck's quality control has been expressed here, with people sending their knives back to the mother ship for warranty remediation, myself included with a Heritage 105 that showed up with a burnt tip.... or last month's GCK BOTM that I (and others) received that was barely one step above a butter knife in terms of sharpness.

As I mentioned in another post... very similar things occurred over at Smith & Wesson with QC while he was there... and as a long time patron of S&W firearms, it has felt like a rerun of things.
