Surprise ZT 0804CF goodness!!!

The 804CF is on my wish list, I'm trying to time my acquisitions to keep my CC balances sane.

> Stabman; I thought the CF scale was overlaid on Ti or stainless, isn't it? If it's just a slab of CF, oh my, that would be just sick, I love the pure simplicity of such construction.

> Comeuppance; Hand sharpening to Rammstein seems to give me better results for some reason.

It is indeed just a slab. :)

Cool, Stabby!

Thomas is one of the most generous guys I have run into, yet another example of his getting great blades into the hands of people who truly appreciate them.

I liked the first post with the initial thoughts. My 804CF is becoming one of my favorites. The only critique I have of the knife is that the custom machined ti clip is so stiff that I have to use two hands to get it over the pocket seam on some of my cargo pants. How's that for a benign issue?

I have done some heavy cutting with mine and it has yet to dull noticeably, nor has the coating been impacted.

Another of the many premium features that the "omg it's too expensive" crowd fail to take into account, the DLC coating. It's not the instant-fail coatings you see on some other brands.

My knife came super-smooth, but I still chose to take mine apart and pack the bearings with frog-lube, which made mine even smoother (probably just placebo effect, but made me happy...)

Thanks, stabman, for the cool post, and thanks to Thomas for getting another knife into the hands of someone truly deserving.

This Original Post is just filled with so much awesome. I love the 804CF as has been noted in many of my post about it. Very cool of Thomas to send it to you and for you to have sent him your books!

Good on Thomas and good on you for making time for us...err....the knife. Great pics as always!

The clip is quite tight/stiff, but I guarantee that no one will ever complain that they lost one of these knives by it falling out of their pocket. :D

It is a very, very smooth action.

Generosity is a good thing, so spreading it around makes the world a happier place. :)

I always have time for knives. :D
And since this place is all about knives, I manage to find time for it quite often as well. ;)

Excellent! Thomas is an awesome fellow and that is an awesome knife!

I wish I knew where all these people find USA made, premium knives with high end materials (204p, 3d machined pocket clip, titanium, carbon fiber etc) for under $200.... I mean the dang Spyderco Southard Black is $20 cheaper than this knife and it's smaller, has g10 instead of cf and a spring clip instead of a 3d machined one...

Benchmade 761 might be the closest comparison (3 clip, similar size, USA made, basically the same steel) and it's $60 MORE EXPENSIVE than the ZT.

Nice looking knife... but no clip?? WTH ZT???

The knife sports a 3d machined titanium factory-custom clip.

Re-read the posts above.

This knife has had me drooling over it since the second I saw it. The design is just awesome. It's a little bigger than what I normally carry (PM2) and definitely more expensive than any knife I own, but I want it.

Stabman your awesome post is only making me want it more. I'm now EDC'ing my 710HSS to get used to the size. Is that a fair comparison in how the knife handles and rides in the pocket?

I'm starting a new job this week and think this knife might have to commemorate it.

Heyyy, I said I liked it a lot. I still also say wow $280.

It looks even better in a better, closer. Looks sick. That is a nicely shaped, solid chunk of carbon fiber. I can see where a lot of the price goes in that piece alone. Probably why it's so expensive. Haha. Still nice!

I can see the reluctance to pay $280 for a knife, but looking at comparable brands in terms of quality and materials, such as Reate, ZT's prices are more than reasonable. But the biggest reason I feel comfortable buying ZT knives is the KAI warranty. Warranty service doesn't enter most minds until it has to be used; then it becomes paramount. ZT has what I consider one of, if not the best, warranties in the folding knife world, and that is worth a lot.

Unfortunately, I do not have a 710.
But I posted a pic of it beside a Military, and you can find pics from others comparing a Military with a 710. :)

Dang. Now I want to write a couple books and send them to Thomas...

Sounds like a good idea. :D

I want one just because 804 is my area code

Another valid reason to get one.

It also looks good if you happen to end up in a fighter jet for some odd reason...

Awesome cockpit shots -

Stabman in hardcover is out for delivery today by the way. This is the kind of knife he would have carried, stealthy.
