Survival and age.

Getting old is a challenge for sure. One thing that I've learned is that my knives need to have a larger handle to them. Makes them easier to hold onto and there is less hand fatigue. At least, that's how it works out for me.

It's a fact that we have to change how we do things, in order to work with our bodies limitations. For instance, it's easier for me to put the long piece of wood on the fire and let the fire burn it shorter, than it is to chop that same piece. Things take longer than they used to, including getting up, but I'm finding that my time in the woods is becoming less about my macho selfs' way of doing things and more about just cruising through the day, enjoying the outdoors for what it has to offer at the slower pace, instead of the blur that I used to call enjoying the outdoors. If that makes any sense...........

I never understood chopping it in half. Let the fire burn it in half.

A 34 mile one day hike. You must be in incredible shape.

I am at least 20 lbs overweight( carbs) though I do walk long distances every once in a while, but I'm not in that kind of shape. I would have to start training in Jan with the basics at first ( not burn myself out) and then train hardcore in the spring. I want to peak at the right time and then maintain a fit lifestyle if I can.
