Survival contest

I think org. the contest was over by the end of this month.
But contest or no contest i say get out there and follow through with the exercise, this will better you. You will be more capable more sure of your abiltys all the while still remaining within control over your situation.

Unless you come back dead :eek:or maimed ,infested with critters ,or violated by The Hills have eyes, Wrong Turn ....etc. :D

It was rough, dude. Mosquitoes biting my ass and hot as hell. I think I'm going to just quit this survival business!

I may try do this but Im gonna have to break some of the rules.

If I do this I will bring enough water to last three days and I will probbly do this with two other people.

The water here isnt good at all and you can get very sick from it, and there are a good number of crazy/homeless people out in the bush here and I would not want to be alone out there.

I will bring a camera and post here if I go.

I dont know, the creatures of the night might get ahold of ya.....
while im collecting my water i will avoid thinking of Bloody Mary 3 times while peering into the water...
omg white polar bear, shit.
:eek::D

Assuming you can light a fire, is 3 days 2 nights really that big a deal? Maybe in the extremes it is, but practically everyone can go three days without food and suffer no ill effect. I would have thought any desk jockey with an Izula, sparklite and puritabs (or imodium:)) could manage 2 nights under the stars. I've done 3 days without water, so 3 days 2 nights with nothing is bit of a challange.

Now, maybe 5 nights and a hike from X to Y would be a challange. Then food and water become factors and without addressing those, you can't hike. You also need to deal with shelter on more than one occasion which would be morre of a test for the blade.

My problem is finding someone as stupid as me. My sensible half wouldn't be seen dead in a sleeping bag, let alone anything more primative. I remember trying to explain to her why I went without food a few times for weeks to see what impact it had me (an exercise I'd suggest everyone try at least once. It really hits home how unimportant food is), and she looked at me like I was f"ckin' nuts. I've actually not field tested my Izula or my RAT E&E, so it'd be a laugh.

Cool. One man. One sparkstick. One camera (the disposable type I presume?) One Izula. I haven't read the whole thread. Just presumed you needed someone with a camera from reading other thread about ten year old girl survival challenge. Mind you, wouldn't even go camping alone with a daughter if I had one, on account of people and authorities being such @ssholes nowadays. Too easy for people to jump to conclusions.

Camera - With a small ball of wire wool, you can light a fire with the battery from a little camera (even the ones in a photon freedom light). All you need is a little piece of snare wire and voilas - Fire. It's fun and it makes a change in the otherwise boring same old same old.
