Survival drink !!!

I'm not much of a drinker any more but the last few times I've had beer it's been Marston's Oyster Stout.

Although when drinking regularly I can remember calling Gosser Dark, St Paul Double (and Triple), St Sebastiaan Dark, Young's Double Chocolate Stout & Oatmeal Stout at one time or another "my favourite". Have said the same about beers from Traquair & McEwans as well as an Altenmunster bock. I was a beer geek.

The best beer you can ever taste is Belgian beer!
especially the 'trappist' beer, there are only 7 beers in the world that can call themselves 'trappist', it is made good ol fashioned style by real monks. 6 of them are from Belgium.

my favorite trappists are 'Westmalle' and 'Chimay'. espcially the 'brown beers'.

other excellent belgian beers are

- Duvel
- Leffe
- Grimbergen
- La Chouffe
- ...

if it comes to beers I love my country :-)

Wow! Now I NEED a cold beer.

Honey Brown, Fat Tire, Pacifico if I'm feeling like a fiesta/pachanga sorta mood, and sometimes Coors. I used to drink a few more stout beers, preferably nutty beers, but not lately. Never Anheuser or Miller anything because they give money to all sorts of left wing lunatic fringe groups, especially the gun grabbers.

Most commonly found in my fridge:

MacEwan's Ale
Blehaven Scottish Ale
Old Speckled Hen
Narraganssett
Pabst Blue Ribbon (In 30 packs only)

You have just named two of my regular favourites..Youngs Double Chocolate and Marstons Oyster Stout !!!

Where abouts do you live....I got into them when I lived in the UK !!!

I confess my palate has really deteriorated in the last several years. Budgetary concerns and my "12-pack abs" have put me pretty squarely in the Busch Light camp. *ducks as guys start throwing rocks at me and jeering*:o

However, occasionally even I want something that actually tastes good, for sure with a nice steak'n'shrimp dinner at the campsite. Then I'll splurge on St Pauli Girl or Grolsch. Molson Canadian and Golden are both pretty tasty, too. Rolling Rock has a real crisp, clean flavor that goes over great on a hot day at a BBQ. As you can guess, I'm not really into beers you have to chew :D

I'm also a bit of a bourbon fan... had to sneak down to the tavern last night (first time in months, it's amazing how boring I've become) for a couple shots of Jim Beam. I sip 'em, not slam 'em. Jack Daniels shouldn't even be called whiskey :barf: (maybe I just drank way too much of it when I was a kid and I thought it made me look cool and bad-ass, LOL) Someone mentioned Booker's; I've not tried a whole lot of top shelf bourbons but Booker's is about the best I've had so far. Evan Williams Single Barrel is good, as well. Old Rip Van Winkle is damn good, very smooth and it has that almost-caramel flavor to it. Which reminds me of some 20-yr-old Crown Royal a friend found in the basement of the bar he worked at... man, that was yummy. I don't know how much it changed in all that time, or if was just that much better back then, or what. But it smoked any new CR I've ever had (which of course is pretty good anyway).

I like my beer good and cold... many moons ago when I tended bar, we kept a case of Point bottles on the floor outside the cooler for this one old Polish farmer who liked it warm.

I better quit adding to this, it's makin' me thirsty and I have work to do today... ;)

I don't much care for beer, but I do like Woodchuck hard cider. Also, I've tried a couple of lambics which I really liked, but I can't remember the brands. For a survival twist, go for one of the "box wines" after the wine is gone you can use the plastic bag inside the box to carry water!

Heh! My woman likes box wine sometimes, and I admit it has occurred to me that the bag inside seems pretty sturdy

I had a bit too much 'Survival drink' last night. I just woke up about 20 minutes ago... 4pm.

Could everyone please stop posting so loud?

Any stout or porter is good to me, there is a pizza place locally that brews there own beer. Oatmeal stout does the body good.

Domestic: Yuengling or various local microbrewed beers
German: Beck's
Japanese: Sapporo
Chinese: Tsingtao
Mexican: Dos Equis
Filipino: San Miguel

There's nothing like good ol' homemade sweet tea.

At least as long as I'm under the rather silly drinking age of 21.

Corona

Mike's hard iced tea

sake

Jack Daniels

Mostly the hard tea and the Jack. Not really into the beers that much but I do enjoy a Corona with either pizza or crabs, Oh, thank God it's almost summer.
