survival folders?

It would be my blue XM-18 with the 3.5 inch blade!!

BM 520. In that situation I would want a steel soft enough to sharpen on a rock.

very smart. I was also thinking about that today, not even having read this post. To sharpen in the woods you can grab some sand or another grainy rock, crush it and lay it out on a wet stick to make a makeshift sharpener.

If I were suddendly caught in a survival situation then it would be whatever folder I was carrying that day. As I ALWAYS carry a Case Barlow in my left hand pocket, it would be present. Then in my other pocket would be one of the following; Strider AR, BM Rukus, or ZT0200. I think any one of the three would work.

Since I currently carry a BM Rukus when outdoors I would have to say that would most likely to be the blade I would end up with.

Toss up between two classics, Case or Boker Carbon Trapper and Buck 110. I have tried for years to move past these knives and carry newer stuff, but I always seem to include one in my gear when going outside for a while. End result, they get used and I like them better for it all the time.

Mission MPF! No doubt about it. No worries about rust! No worries.

I can see what your thinking here, but I don't think rust is a factor is a survival situation...Most cases people are lost in the woods, or wherever for less than a month...I guess if you had to live on an island for a few years alone I might think about a blade that can't rust....but I think what most people are thinking for the most part here is getting lost in the woods for a few days...Now off hand I think most mission knives come in either a A2 blade (which can rust easily) or Titanium, which can't rust, but does not hold and edge as good as most other steels...I can see it being fine at 1st, but resharpening might be a problem, I have no personal expereince with Mission knives with Ti blades, but I did have one Ti custom neck knife once and I could not get an edge on it for the life of me, lol...Of course this was way before I had an edgepro or my sharpmaker, so maybe my opinion is biased based on my one bad expereince?

Whatever EDC I have in my pocket. I wouldnt carry anything I would not feel comfortable with in this situation. So whatever folder and the leatherman charge TTi that I always carry.

Oh yeah, and for me (well most of us) we would end up with whatever our current EDC was...In my case I would ahve my small classic sebenza, which I would feel comfortable havign with me, but at the same time might hesitate to do soem heavy chores with, lol, but obviously id my life depended on it I would get over that issue quickly...If I had the privilage to have my bob (bail out bag) with me whcih I take everywhere then I would not only have a Leatherman Wave in there, but I would also have 3 other folders, and a fixed blade, not to mention a sharpmaker to get them nice and sharp! I am set as far as knives, its the whole find your own food thing that might give me trouble, lol, I should add some energy bars to my bob now that I think of it, lol...

Kershaw Blackout is what I always carry. The Kabar folding Warthog is with me if the Blackout is getting a day off.

buck 110 or my old gerber folding hunter or my rigid apache all big solid knifes,
the buck would be easyest to replace

The standard 110 has 420HC steel...[and] can be had with Damascus, S30V, 154CM, ATS-34, and BG-42.
Yeah, but can you get 'em w/thumbstuds or wheeltops?

All kidding aside, where can one get a 110 w/ATS-34 or S30V w/fingergrips?
