survival folders?

My leatherman with Ti handles... if it's gotta be just a folding knife... Spyderco Manix. Never owned better built folder... And that's compared to a Strider AR and CR Sebenza.

Yeah, but can you get 'em w/thumbstuds or wheeltops?

All kidding aside, where can one get a 110 w/ATS-34 or S30V w/fingergrips?

Actually, I don't think you can get a 110 with S30V and fingergrooves.
I think the S30V is only available through Cabela's as the Alaskan Guide, and I don't think it can he had with fingergrooves.

OTOH, Buck's custom shoppe offers the 110 with ATS-34 and fingergrooves.
And Cutlerylover has already supplied the link.

I have a Cld Steel Recon 1 folder that has did great in survivalist activities but I am thinking about switching it out with something else soon.

.

Your right, finger grooves is an extra $4, but you cna get it with a BG-42 blade for an extra $19...and BG-42 is said to be even better than S30V...

EDIT: now that I think of it you can probably buy an alaskan guide and just send it in for finger grooves to be cut...

If the situation was sprung on me I'd be carrying my Alaskan Guide 110 as it lives on my belt every day. (along with my original Swisstool and a SAK Ranger in my pocket ;)) I'd be happy to have it too.
On the other hand, if I were to prepare for the situation with prior knowledge (but no fixed blades allowed) I'd grab my Lone Wolf Harsey T3.

I see most 'survival situations' being just that.... survival, not long-term episodes. This would mean that I wanted a knife that I could trust not to break, to keep it's edge and be useful for a variety of tasks. Sharpenability on rocks doesn't really come into it as the #1 priority in such a situation is to get out of the situation as quickly as possible. A well honed S30V blade would hold it's edge plenty well enough if it were used correctly and would most likely not need to be sharpened 'in the field' at all.

EDC has been Spyderco Manix + Victorinox Farmer lately. Either one would work really well.

Buck Omni Hunter, is a good solid knife that i dont think gets enough credit. I bought one at wally world and i really love this knife. Its light, solid, sharp and absolutely no blade play at all, with 420HC steel. I would put it up there with the same quality as a Buck 110. I hope that doesnt open a whole can of worms.haha.

Victorinox Rucksack, or Hunter. An Extrema Ratio RAO wouldn't hurt, either.
But I'd probably wind up with a SnG, cause like was said, the one in your pocket.

For me Buck 110, EDC leatherman wave, OH Trekker, SAK, and Gerber Gator 154CM
