Survival knife ?

Question is if there will be 150 released for sale at one time, or 10-20 over the course of several sales.... I sincerely hope a bigger number pops on the first sale, 'cuz it's gonna be epic.

I machine parts in large batches but finish them out by hand in smaller batches. It's a matter of optimizing machine tool setup while maintaining steady output over time.

Good question. Do you think it should?

Now please keep in mind that this input is coming from someone who hasn't mastered the CPK sales format and wouldn't be getting one immediately, but I like having an exposed pommel. I think it adds a little more versatility to the tool to be able to hammer or strike something without sacrificing anything.

You're the mastermind, though, so take my opinion for the little it's worth :D

To some purists, the idea of a choil, fuller and pummel may sound too much to handle and they may faint from their puritanism affliction! Thank goodness though that you are a very practical man and also a very pragmatically minded maker ;)

Looking forward to the "fluffer" , looks like it should be able to "handle" any job !!! big or small

Some people are just too serious, eh?

With regards to extended pommel, my meaningless vote is yes, but flat/no wedge.

Probably around $280 for the bare knife and $330 with a good kydex sheath. This is a little higher than mid way between the Field Knife ($235) and the Light Chopper ($405).

We will continue to conform to our long standing principals which are honest value for an honest knife, the price reflects intrinsic value, it's not based upon the name or how hot it may be, but it's an honest working tool worth what it costs.

Please have an option to buy it for a bit less $ without a sheath like you did with the Light Chopper!

Good question. Do you think it should?

Yes. 100%

I'd also like to see an exposed pommel and 90 deg spine.

Of those knives in the pics, I like the one with the higher grind.

Wait. If it's going to be the fluffer, then wouldn't Lorien's proto be the Bad Mother Fluffer?

Nevermind, that's wrong on too many levels.

took some digging, but I found this stuff;

had something different in mind at the beginning, but this sketch is where it started coming together;

pommel detail;

this was my final sketch, and the one I made the aluminum model from;

might be funny to read, so here's my note to Nathan regarding the pommel;

I'm thinking of mild jimping at the butt, (not gimping, don't go there!) with just a sliver of tang showing- 1 mm or less. I think it's dumb to use your knife hammering at stuff with the blade pointing at your face, but if you have to, I prefer you don't destroy the handle completely when you do it. Don't want to make a big deal of this feature, but if we can put in on there and not compromise anything else, I'd say it's worth thinking about.

Confucius says, When hammering with knife, kydex stay on.

Quick fix. And I like the idea of leaving 1 mm or so exposed for this exact purpose.

Making the handle the same thickness front and back is better. I had the LC and that annoyed me like hell, which is why I got rid of it.

"Nathan / Lorien"

Was just wondering if this knife model will have more of a reinforced blade tip/point ? I'm really enjoying reading all the info in this thread. This knife really sounds like it's going to be a great knife to have :-)

the tip will be tough to break. Very tough to break
