Survival Lilly knife.

Pssst.... there won't be an apocalypse.
It is just marketing and fantasy.

And if an apocalypse were to happen.
Wouldn't an APO1 just be a total score to find in the apocalyptic rubble?
Say you weren't carrying some totally awesome survivalblade on that fateful day, and you just happened to be hundreds of miles away from home.

Happened to be hundreds of miles from home?
Did your Uber leave you out there?

How much is your survival worth in the apocalypse?
Hah, right.
Cant put a price on that.

Further more, a Carothers will keep on going after any of SL's knives have given up, should you push the knives to the limit and beyond. As others have suggested, she might not have heard of Carothers or Busse.
I just watched her trying to work her way through a piece of foil. She had the tin foil on a rock and was using another rock to bang on the spine of a CS SRK.
How can anybody take this seriously. Its not even info-tainment, its just entertainment for the gullible masses. What a travesty.

Exactly. So if it is just marketing and fantasy and a game, wouldn't you pick the best possible option? I mean, that is what Lilly claims her knife is....

That depends on how much you think the fun and games is worth to you.

All I'm saying is that I've actually tried the knife out. I've tried it with Busse, Bark River, Spartan, Carothers and Fallkniven etc.
In my actual use experience it chops, batons and feather sticks as well as those. Obviously comparing knives in a similar size / weight class.
Sure it won't have the edge holding ability, but few of us use our knives very extensively, I suspect most of us use the Internet more. And Aus8 is easily sharpened in the field.
I don't understand the need people have to criticise a knife they've never tried because they have an issue with the designer.
Here, it is a decent value, solid knife that works.
I'm glad there is a variety of choice, different steels, different prices etc to suit all budgets.

The SL knife is named the Apocalypse1. Surviving the apocalypse is probably going to put quite a strain on a knife. You of course want the best. Cant put a price on your life … or does it come cheap (rhetorical question).
SL most likely havent heard of Carothers or Busse.
Its fine that you bought the knife, have an opinion and am happy with it. More power to you. The apocalypse hasnt happened … yet. For your use, the knife is doing fine, we get it.
The knife in question is just a hard sell on a knife forum, where there is a lot of accumulated knowledge.
I initially thought, more power to SL as well for having a YT channel and many followers but the more I learn, the more I can see it for what it is (see my previous post on the subject).

This knife is easy to criticize without handling it because it's higher than it needs to be price on the social media "celebrity" of it's namesake.

If you were to go to some other website where folks didn't know much or anything about knives you'd have a much better chance of positive reviews.

I agree.

As I said here in the UK it is cheaper than most competitors
I'll likely leave the discussion here. I didn't intend to be controversial
All I can say is that the knife, irrespective of claims and personalities performs well at a reasonable price.
Have fun out there.

This. I'll also add that the marketing is disingenuous. If you know a bit about knives and steel you know this isn't the best knife for the claimed job.

Actually, if you know just a little bit about knives and steel, you will know, that it will do just fine.

This is where practical knowledge begins to mean more that theoretical knowledge.

I'm sure if it's the best steel you've ever used it'll serve you well.

Let's hit up the elephant in the room shall we? She's pretty girl broadcasting to hoard of thirsty dudes who'd love to get stuck in the bush with her. Just another Insta influencer; maybe not as egregious as the Frye Festival & at least you'll get a knife for your $$$$$$$$$$ but not a great knife.

We all have knives so expecting the populace here to overpay to get one of these is going to be a pretty tough sell. But good luck; not sure if going aggro will win over any more followers/hearts/clicks/likes/sales/etc.

TLDR (mostly) - What I really want to know is if I have this knife do my chances of surviving the apocalypse increase over those who have different knives or are my chances relatively the same as everyone else running around with a knife? If this knife cannot guarantee my ability to outcompete other people with other knives I probably will not buy it.

Edited: no need to stir up things.

I think you will be carrying a knife that is better than what 99.9 percent are carrying.
The last .1 percent, will carry better knives. My self included.

It will do just as well as the other knives she has ruined. A better steel will be less ruined.

Practical knowledge has shown me that a better steel will do better. And in a theoretical survival apocalypse fantasy, I'll take better steel and a sheath that doesn't dull the knife, even if I, gasp, have to pay more....

Interesting that you took what I said that way. Did you mean if I am carrying the SL I will have a better knife than 99.9% of the population? Since you don't really know what I would be carrying. I am pretty sure I have better options than the SL, so I get to be in the .1%.

I am sure you too will be in the top .1%.
My point is, that those carrying the SL knife will do great too. Not as great as us .1%'ers, but great enough.

And nobody will ever argue with you on that choice.
Not me, at least, because I would make the same choice as you.
But I would feel just fine, if my buddy brought an APO1. His job is not as good as mine, so he couldn't afford a Busse. Even if he wanted one.
My wife would be handed a SwampRat 311.
