Ok guys going on another trip on this one I'd like to bring a small survival rifle.
Any good ones out there that you guys would bring with you.

The 10/22 is nice but cost to much for what it is. I want to keep it in the 100-200 buck range

10/22's are the way to go with a .22 lr there is just too much customization you can put one through to fit any need.

-I like the idea of the .223 over 12 Gauge for a combo gun in a shtf situation, as both are military and police standards.

Since you gave no clue as to what you'll be surviving my vote goes to a .22 revolver preferably with a 6 inch barrel and 10 in the wheel. S&W 617.

Ok to tell you guys what I need it for. I'm going off the grid for a week with 2days of food and my bag of goodies. When the food runs out we will be at the will of the land. the rifle will be for if we can't snair anything. So what would you guys bring with you?
Jeff and tony any thoughts on this one??

Depends where you're going to be at, but i bought a .357 single action Ruger Vaquero just for safety reasons when camping out west, and also if necessary for hunting. I like the .38spl option for squirrels...

A lever action Marlin w 18-20in barrel would be a great option.

If I could only have 1 gun in the back woods, it would be a marlin model 60, it is tube fed and holds 16 or 17 rounds, I can hit a bottlecap at 20 yards with just the iron sights, very light and you can carry a shit wad of ammo in a pocket! while I do like the ruger 10/22, I am absolutley against a clip fed 22 in the field, tube fed is the way to go, there are many options for such a gun but hands down, my choice is the marlin model 60!

I would normally say 20ga as well. It's just easier to hit a moving target when you got all of those pellets coming out at once, however you do make a mess out of small game.
I would go with a Marlin model 60, due to my ability to be deadly accurate with it. Not to mention I can carry a ton of ammo, in a light small package compared to the 20ga.
It's tube fed, and extremely accurate out of the box.
So yes, one more vote for the model 60.

I have a few 10/22's in various configurations, and a Marlin Papoose that can shoot ridiculously well with its iron sight...but if I only had 2 days of food for 7 days in the wild, I would still opt for the shotgun. I might be tempted to change my mind if I was going to be in an area with good fishing and I had the requisite gear along.

i would agree with the shotgun, however if carrying a bunch of shells with you, i would take my personal favorite, the good ol' Remington Nylon 66. You can find them cheap i think, they're super lightweight, and as most parts are made of 'plastic' they apparently do well in the cold and need very little maintenance. Plus a box of 22 lr is pretty light and easy to carry.

20 ga. pump sounds good, you can use slugs, 000 buck or regular load.

The only shotgun we own right now is a cowboy action .410, it is a double barrel with two triggers on it, looks great. I have 2 1/2" shells in bird and 000 buck and some 3" slugs. I would think a .410 would be a good survival choice as well.

It is a little heavy, but if a woman is shooting it, it won't have as much kickback.

I hope you have a GREAT and safe trip!
