Survival Sheath Kit Inspired by Marty Simon

Theonew,
You forgot the 3 split shots, the 30' of spider fishing line and the cordage for a bow drill.
I will take some pictures and send them to Kevin to post as I do not have those skills.
Oldman/Marty Simon

Thanks Marty (can't call you Oldman because I might be older :()

Looking forward to seeing it.

I was also inspired by Marty's kit in his Neck knife sheath. I actually asked mtnflk mike to make me one this morning. Some of the other sheaths he did looked great, I can't wait till its all done. May be a while considering I still have to send him the Gossman PSKjr I didn't recieve yet:D
I doubt I can get half as much in as Marty but, I'll try.

hello Marty,
what hat is that you are wearing?
I am about due for one.
be safe... Ted

I've got a similar set up. I mostly wear it while hunting or fishing, it's accessible if I'm setting or have on coveralls, etc. The whole thing weighs less than a large folder. It's a Mikro Slither in a kydex sheath, a photon 3, a mag/ferro rod, and an Atwood whistle. It's a handy little deal and back up for my knife, fire, light and signal.

Thats my kind of kit.

In homage to Marty Simon..a guy that inspires me. I put together a sheath survival system for myself..I went off of the Bravo1, a knife that I feel can do it all. I started a while back by modding the actual knife..I removed the thumb ramp and grooved the handle for a better grip. I have had 2 sheaths for the Bravo1, the factory kydex and a leather bushcraft sheath. I used the factory kydex as a base for the system. I took some part form different sheaths and pouchs that I had laying around. The belt loop is from a ColdSteel master hunter plus sheath, I broke the knife, and have had the sheath for a while. The pouch is for a Gerber suspension that I have in my collection..basically, the pouch was a perfect fit..so it got used. I used a torch and some metal wire and burned holes right where I wanted them..to line up with the gromets in the kydex. I used some teckloc screws to fasten the pouch and belt loop at the top and the same at the bottom. Inside the pouch I have a SUNTU compass/ thermometer, a magnesium tinder block, a small ferocium rod, and leatherman mikra. In the one extra gromet I looped a small heavy duty keyring..for some future use? overall, I am happy with the sheath..this is my first attemp at something like this...I might try this with some other knives that I have..with different gear in tow. I am shooting for the 3 top essentials..Blade, Fire and Direction. The SAK Trekker is always on my person, if its not, another SAK with a saw is with me..so I have a saw on my always. What do you think? Gene

Gene, I love it  It beats the crap out of my rubber band and twist-tie setup :D I recently got an Inova Microlight to replace the Maglite Solitaire and its rugged, very bright, and weighs practically nothing. Couldn't hurt to have one in there as well.

Ted,
I got my hat from Cabela's. I don;t know the model but they have a good selection.
I'm still working on the pictures of my neck knife sheath.

Is that one of the little button lights that Marty showed us? I have one hanging on the Trekker. :D

Now how come that every time i see what a survival Guru Carries. They always seem to carry a small knife.. Do they know something the We dont know( yes pun intended). Like bear I dont like to carry everything around my neck but rather on my belt. Unless im at the camp site then i like to keep my Mora around my neck on a shoe string..
christopher myerges uses shears on anything under 1 1\2 inch. Havent seen him even take the knife out.
