any one else know anything about this company or have any problems contacting him?

(survival sheath systems)

Thanks. He got back to me today, said his nylon guy has moved "as well" (what that means i dont know) and is expecting it "any day". I sent him my knife in march for a custom sheath and he has been very slow to respond if at all. At this point I just hope i get my knife back, Im not liking what ive seen about him on other forums so far. Too bad cuz his site has some nice stuff and i love to spend money. Guess it will be spent elsewhere.

That he got back to you is good news. I wish he had been able to keep up. Unfortunately, craftsmanship is one thing, running a business is another.

I just received a back sheath from him the other day. It took a little over 5 months but it finally came. I just sent him emails once or twice a month so he wouldn't forget about me while trying to not be rude about it. Sometimes he would get back to me and other times not. I didn't have to send him my knife though , so I had less to worry about. I could understand why you would be concerned after reading the forums, I went through the same thing. It finally came though and let me tell you it was worth the wait. Just keep bugging him, you'll get your knife back with a sweet new sheath. Here's some pics of my new sheath to keep some hope alive for you.

i ordered a sheath, never came. like 8-9 months plus, never came. asked what the deal was very politely. never got a response for maybe another month or 2 or so. i got a little angry, got a 2 sentence response, and the gentleman said it was his mistake, and he would be making it that day and sending it out the next. he kept to his word and made it and sent it out 2 days as promised. excellent quality, couldn't ask for better. the whole process took close to a year.

so to sum up......a hard man to deal with, you won't get more than 2 or 3 sentences from him in communication. so if you want unrivaled extemely good quality, top notch product, and if you can handle the long time to get and little to no communication, then you won't be let down.

would i use him again, yep, but only if i knew i didn't need it fast. that should say how good the quality is.

I think there are people here on BF who will make the same quality or better product without giving anyone frustration.

Kiah comes to mind right away. I do not own any of his products yet, but he is a solid individual and I'd recommend him on that alone.
Dave Brown is another one, but that would more for Busse(kin) knives and handguns.

I haven't used Kiah, but have no doubt he would bend good products. I have used Steelnut in the past and never had any complaints.

The fanboys who are promoting this guy are just enabling him to keep screwing people over.

since you quoted me only without putting my name on my out of context quotes, you should just call me the fanboy. i own one sheath, and that hardly makes me a fanboy. i stated the facts as best i could remember them. i think my honesty speaks for itself and if i was a new comer, without my own experience to draw from, and read my post i would avoid this man.

you obviously see it different, so be it. if you had bad dealing with this guy then state them please.

It's a frick'n Kydex sheath.

yep, and if the manufacturers would make better ones for their knives, this guy would be out of business completely. stating the obvious aside. there also seems there is a lack of skilled craftsmen, with better communication skills and business ethics, and functional websites, out there or this guy would be out of business as well.

so let's bring the list on that fits these musts....good craftsmanship skills, good business ethics and communciation skills, and a functional website you can order through and pay through. if there isn't already a lsit out there.....let's build a list of useful kydex knife sheath makers that fit those basic requirements. then this guy will be out of business.

It would be nice to see alternate Vendors identified that can replace these losers. This guy isn't the only one.

Go to the Sheaths and Such sub-forum and take a look at the sticky of sheathmakers and pictures of their work. If any of them look interesting, one can do a search here, or post a question here in GB&U before they make an order. There are dozens of great sheathmakers here on BF who deserves everyone's business.

There is no reason for an "it's worth the wait" type of justification for crappy service.

buyer beware!!,ordered a custom kydex sheath that took four months to manufacture( paid for in advance) guess what? after many e-mails the job was finished and shipped U.S.P.S. and LOST!!! requested a remake to be expedited........ STILL WAITNG 2 years later

I personally have no experience with this person, but the stories I am seeing on this thread sound insane! Go on the sheaths-and-such sticky, and there are several excellent Kydex benders on there- Kiah, Brown, Azwelke, maybe more?- and I can't believe any of them would put you through what this guy apparently(?) does. Not only that, but there are also some absolutely stunning looking leather sheaths on that thread too, so why go through the headaches with somebody who doesn't have enough respect to communicate and to get your sheath to you, no matter how good it may be?
Just my two cents.....

and yes, I am on that thread too, but I am not currently accepting orders because I am backlogged. Still, I have spoken with Kiah by email in the past, and he always responds fast- I have seen photos of brown's work, and it is excellent- and Azwelke has recently had several different positive comments in the feedback forum. Forget anybody who treats you like that, seriously..... How hard can it be to write an email back to a paying customer? sheeesh..... Pay one of these other guys instead.

as of 9/1/11 (6 months later) i was informed it has shipped out to my old address that i explained to him many times i was moving and needed to be contacted so i could give him the new shipping address. strange though he shipped it out befiore requesting payment and notifying me it was finished. now that i have payed him i have asked three times for a tracking number so it doesnt get "lost" and the only response so far is "it should be forwarded to your new address". lets see what happens folks.
P.S. its not just a sheath i am waiting for, he needed my knife for fitting so i am waiting to get that back as well.

received tracking number this afternoon. hope to see it next week some time after it gets forwarded and shuffled around by the geniuses at the post office.
