Survival Sheath Threads

Heat gun will work just fine,,, I used a small butane tourch to heat mine, but if you use open flame, just be careful not to scorch it.

just heat it till it is soft, then just press it to form it to the blade, nothing to it :jerkit:

Here is a little hilbilly engineering... if you don't have a heat gun or want to fool with a torch you can use the heat from the exhaust of your car. Enough to make it pliable, but won't scorch it. This trick also works great in working PVC.

I just trimmed the top of my Spec Ops sheath with some wire snips, worked well and it only took a few minutes. I honestly thought mine was a small model but it may have well been a large. This is the first Spec Ops sheath I've owned and I bought it at a show so I'm not positive which model it is. I had the knife in my hand, grabbed a sheath and it fit so I bought it ;)

However, the modification took less than 1 minute to perform and it didn't require any heating on mine. The only reason I needed to trim the kydex at the top was so I could get the knife to sit a little lower so the retaining strap would fasten properly.

so what keeps the liner in now, does it come out with the knife or is the fit loose enough?

I bought the 6" model and my SJT works great in it. I am unable to get the screw out though. I was going to post a thread on here asking if it even came out but from your posts I see it does. I'll try again, it's almost like it's welded on there.

And a link to the other thread..

So the SJTAC will fot in both the large AND small versions with a little modification, right. Also, did you get your FSH to fit into the large model. My SH-e is in a large model...I can't imagine my FSH fitting in there.

I recall someone saying that in order for the SJT to fit in the smaller version, the screw would have to be removed. This of course makes the inner liner a bit more wobbly when sheathing and unsheathing (unless you then glue it into place). The larger sheath is a bit longer than is needed, but fits fine otherwise.

I did not try the FSH in the large model - the SJT would probably fit in the small without the screw - see the picture below -

These really are great sheaths. Their built like tanks and and are kind of inexspensive. I'm impressed with them. Being able to get them in Coyote Brown is a big plus too.
