Survival Show on DiscoveryChannel?

I have that one on tape - I'll have to look for the title on it. I think it was in 2006.

That khukuri that he has is awesome. I've never been able to find out what it is but I've paused and looked at it several times. Anyone know?

With reference to the original video: Multiple refereces to Special Forces and spec ops = Turd :thumbdn: If your videos can't convey your knowledge you're just namedropping and appealing to the Mall Ninjas of "Survival".

The retired Army CPT(Special Forces) did a great job on his show, I would watch anything he does on survival, he was all go and very little show or hype.

I just couldn't buy into this guy. All Spec Ops and ...thanks Joe, I thought I recognized that Tactical Khukri ,lol.
I googled him and found out he was on MTV Road Rules for a bit. Pretty Hardcore, lol.

OK, he seems like he has found Hollywood and is trying to make a couple bucks; but I don't see the need to cut the guy down.

If he is Special Forces, he has proven himself through Army basic, SFAS, SFQC, SERE school, and a dozen other schools. Oh, he also claims to have served for 20 years; probably got around a bit.

I don't know him, but you might extend him a little respect.

Just sayin'....

I caught that show when it first aired, I though it was good. So what if they make a few references to what the guy has done for the last two decades? I don't see anyone saying that he is trotting around claiming to be something he's not. If he can cash in a little on his service record, I say go for it.

The orginial show was pretty good, and all of the information Myke Hawke was useful, especially to those who aren't "in the know" about jungle survival. The idea was based on a guided jungle tour, gone wrong, and the two of the four survivors tald their story, and how they made it out. Myke Hawke simple explained how to do simple things that could have made a difference in their ordeal. Preparation, gathering, water, etc.

I think they kept repeating his background as a way of saying, this guy has been there done that type thing, same as they did with Les Stroud in the Stranded in the snow one.

Anyways, if they repeated the full show on Discovery, it is worth watching for sure.

Edit: it was the SCIENCE OF SURVIVAL, and they based it on the "I shouldn't be alive" series.

If you look really close, the knife he is using, is not the Frost one at SMKW, the Frost one appears to be a cheap ripoff of the one he has.

The Frost one has a more pronounced curve in the blade, like a Khukuri, the guard is also more rounded and the handle is held on by 4 stainless bolts.

The one Myke Hawke uses is more streamlined in the Parang style, and the guard is more pointed and handle has 2 black bolts on the handle, similar to a Becker.
