Right! I think they are getting waaaaayyy to transparent these days. The "I want to believe"-thread must have hit page 10 by now or sth... ;)

Yeah, I'm sure your right about patents or trademarks so it'd have to be some variant, or perhaps leased. Benchmade, SOG and Spyderco all have variants so I'm sure there's gotta be some room in there for another one :) Could be some sort of slide lock also (like the Hawk lock). I'm a lefty but have never used left-handed knives, so if i try, it doesn't work for me. My left hand isn't trained. So I'm good with whatever personally
 
now that we know the folder will eventually be available we need to start the campaign for a s!k hawk. maybe after all the preorders have been taken care of and the folder is set enough time will have passed for enough interest to generate the motivation for survive to consider it.
 
I have a good feeling that Guy will be trying to make these as ambidextrous as possible. It's cool to see so many lefties here. At least a few of us are in our right mind!
 
there is a small medford bearded hatchet that I have had my eye on for a while, and may still jump on, but a similar in size GSO (maybe a larger one as well) would be pretty slick!

Are you guys set on a true tomahawk or just anything "axey"? Guy did let it slip somewhere that he has rough sketches of a full tang hatchet. That would be good enough for me!
 
Manufacturing field grade folding knives in large enough quantities with acceptably rugged locks that meet the Survive standards for fit and finish is a tall order.
That said if they produce a folding version of the 3.5 I'm in!

Me too. 3.5" is the ideal size for my foldies. Would love to see one in that, and also offering us a choice of scales type during order.
 
Ive been saying a folding 3.5 would be ideal for a while now.

As far as a hawk, ide take either a true hawk, like my 2Hawks Longhunter or a full tang type, like my RMJ Loggerhead Shrike or the RMJ kestrel feather. I prefer hammer polls, but can see the benefits of a spiked hawk. When done right a full tang hawk can have nice balance and not be too heavy. But, a hawk like my killian K5, is an unweildy beast that would be very impractical in the woods. Its a great demo tool, but is an awful woods tool.

something like the rmj loggerhead is exactly what i envision. I also prefer hamer polls, i have a knife so there is no need for a spike. I'm not looking for a breaching tool.
 
Wow. Yes, the folder is a BIG deal!

Any other info regarding the folder at all would be AWESOME.

The spikes actually have many uses other than breaching. Entrenching/digging comes to mind. You can always hammer with the side of the hawk head if needed.
 
I feel the hammer is better served. I can dig/entrench with a stick if need be but the precise surface area for a weighted strike a hammer poll allows would be more beneficial with the axe imo.
 
I have not purchased a folder for almost a year. My meager folder stable (Spyderco Manix, Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1, ZT 0770) has been culled from around 30 knives, and I thought I was done buying for the foreseeable future... until now. Given the quality of all the S!K knives so far, I can only assume that the folder will be amazing.

Totally agree with, which is why the manority of my hawks are hammer polls.

Dont worry... You wont be buying a S!K folder for a LONG while!
