...survive moonshine

Shine spiked watermelon is a kick in the head! (the next day it sure feels that way)

Freeze distillation is a good way to try making small quantities, or so I've been told.

JEEZE that Uncle Jesse looks just like my junk yard neighbor !!!!!Pour a little in a tumbler, add chipped ice and a dash of aromatic Bitters or a bit of sugar and a slce of Lemon. SIP SIP SIP.

1. Hey! Risk avoidance is part of survival training.

2. 'Shine from Logan County KY would be a different experience. Some brands have been around for four generations.

:D It is obvious that you guys ain't got any hillbilly blood in ya':D
that is what they start you on after milk;) down south
There was always a gallon jar filled with sweet wild plums and covered with shine in the pantry growing up. My parents are Old school hill folks a couple plums from that jar or a wee bit of the liquid from the jar was acceptable treatment for a youngin' with a cold to help them sleep. I talking a table spoon full with some honey in warm water.

Best home remedy! i remember that like it was yesterday

Brian, if you don't like that a little Newfie screetch with give the beer squits and more
That stuff in all seriousness with strip paint, its the most god awful stuff I have ever drank, and if there's someone you don't like, send them a pint! :D

Earlier this year I finally tried some shine. (Thir*cough**cough* years after being born and raised in the south.) For one I ain't much for alcohol in any form, beer, liquor, wine, etc.., 'shine is just...well I can't find a good way to word it.

I think Fonly worded it better than I can. :D Not really sure I'd send it to my worst enemy..might make them meaner..

man...one time I mixed moonshine with jack at a certain "chestnut mountain proving grounds" I was looking for my orange (actually Green) tent all night. Sigh...

This year I'm going to get back at those bastids......

I have never had Mead, is it good? I have always wanted to try it since I saw the 13th warrior movie....I liked the book ALOT more than the film, (Eaters of the dead)althoug h it had its moments...anyway..MEAD...I want to try it. What is the general opinion? Good-just OK- or Crap....??

Brian...I feel like I am gonna have a day like you tomorrow.....buszzzzed right now..:barf:

Its OK. I've had alot of BAD meade. I'm no connoisseur, but I have judged quite alot of the bad stuff at the fair. The stuff that I've made, for the first time, is pretty darn good. I hope it ages good. I don't really know what I'm doing so we'll see. Its hard to buy meade, let alone goood meade, but even then you will still rather have jack daniels.

Have you ever had wild turkey american honey. Now that is a honey based liquor (not the sweet fruity stuff, actual liquor) I have yet to find one person hate. yeepaww!

You and me both brother. Them darn Canadians. They only do two things right. Beer and hockey. :D

Here's to John Molson. My second favorite John, next to John Moses Browning. May his craft keep a smile on my ugly mug for years to come.

Keep your stick on the ice,

Chris

Hey Joe make sure you bring plenty for "the proving grounds". Considering the source I'm sure it will be good stuff.

GunKnifeNut: If you can find it, try Chaucers Mead. http://www.chaucerswine.com/mead.asp

I haven't had any in some time so I think I'll be hitting up one of the nearby large beverage stores tomorrow to see if I can find it.

It's 2 to 1 honey so it shouldn't be too bad?

As for the 'shine...sip, never chug....<full body shiver>....

That manly man stuff about no chaser is B$...;)

Is shine the same as white lightening? Years ago I attended the National Flat Picking Championship in Elk Heart, Kansas. I camped out under the elms with my then girl friend and there was a lot of clear liquid being passed around in mason jars. Those folks called it white lightening.
