Survive! Sheaths and standard attachments that fit them

Thanks! It's orange g-10 on maroon(my alma mater's colors) I traced the profile, used snips to get it close, then a Dremel to get closer, then finally a dowel rod with reasonably fine grit sand paper.

redwood, were you still able to use your stock sheath after adding the liners? Looks GREAT BTW.

I was! Though it's much tighter and when the clip is attached you have to loosen the screws a bit:

Looking great Kiah!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks, bro.

Not the prettiest solution as it would leave a bit of a gap along the slot, but if you have an eyelet setter you could redo the top two eyelets with a spacer sandwiched in to alleviate the tightness.

DOH! Where was this advice when I added liners to my GSO-10 and then re-heated and pressed the sheath with my pathetic skill-level! Not that I asked for help or anything, but WOW would that solution have been better  You've got to work on that whole 'able-to-sense-when-a-customer/fellow-enthusiast-is-about-to-do-something-dumb' thing :p

Love the liners, redwood

My crystal ball keeps getting covered in plastic dust.

It seems that if you were going to add liners to the sheath you could use an accent color.
It would require replacing all the rivets in the sheath but it would then match your knife liners.
If you use the same thickness of liner material on both the knife and the sheath it should fit just as well when finished.

Would introduce a bit of rattle. Even with spacing in the sheath and all retention on the guard, the slight friction on the spine corners (especially towards the tip) is part of what takes rattle out. Space out the bottom eyelets and the knife will pivot at the guard and knock the tip around. You'd also be running your blade edge along the liner edge when sheathing/drawing. Even when spacing out just the top eyelets, you'll wanna be careful about running the edge along it.

I've done a couple sheaths with thinner sandwiched Kydex in different colors to have thesame effect. Both pieces get formed and it acts as one thicker piece (mostly).

When I get some time (and there's a list ahead of it) I may make up some liner+sheath combos if folks are interested.

Just above belt line, quite a bit lower than with the clip. The 3.5 is so light I about forget it's there.

That's about perfect then. I almost wish I was a righty because it's a pain to put on and take off of a belt on my left side.

HK that looks like an ideal setup to me. Very nice.

Standard lately I've been wearing mine on the left and wearing my pistol on my right. When my 3.5 comes I want to look at a crossdraw sheath.

For those who want the sheath to ride higher with one of my UKE's, you don't necessarily have to cut the thing short (HK is equipped for it).
What I recommend first is mounting the UKE lower on the sheath, i.e. the bend doesn't have to attach right under the flare of the sheath, it can go wherever you want it:

For example on the 5.1:

Lower ride mount

Higher mount

In my UKE video, I show that you can also mount the belt-loop in the upper holes for lower carry, or in the lower holes for higher carry. Perhaps today I'll snap some shots of the variations, but they are myriad.

Standard, I make these for both leftys and rightys, and the included clip makes for easy on/off carry. They also accommodate Tek-Lok products.
But if you need something more specific, let me know and I'll see what I can come up with.

hunter, the UKE also works for angled attachment and cross-draw. If the extension sets the knife too low, you can ditch it and just use the 'bridge' and belt-loop or clip to get a higher cross-draw attachment...

hmm... in fact, if I were to start including a longer 'bridge' piece, I might be able to increase the variability of the option even more...

chiral, I hope I'm not making things difficult by posting pictures of my mod jobs, muddying the waters so to speak. I just have fun making this stuff to suit me, and like you say, I have access to an arbor press and eyelet dies, belt sanders, etc.

To anybody else wondering about the uke, they work great as they are. This fde one was a 'second' from chiral (one of the older, lighter two-piece designs) and was the perfect candidate for me to do a hack job on to fit the 3.5. Also, if you switch up the style of carry you want frequently, the uke is best left unmodified as they are the most versatile for all the carry options in their original state.

Just got these two in! Unfortunately the one I ordered for my wife no longer matches because of her handle change but she still liked it!

Oh man, red linen with ghost jade liners....that could look neat.

No problem  I just wanted to re-iterate to folk that they can achieve a higher ride without necessarily having to modify the extension, as at least two individuals have commented to me that the UKE rides lower than they prefer... not realizing that it can be mounted lower to allow for a higher ride ;) But obviously, once it's yours you can do whatever you want with it, and should, the whole idea is to make it as convenient as possible for as many people as possible. I like the mods  good stuff :)

Haha, I might have to start getting crafty, I might be able to make a fire steel with my lame Dremel drill press! She has definitely gotten into the hobby a bit now that she is getting her own gear! She wore her survive shirt the other day to pick me up from work, put a huge grin on my face!
