Survive starter 5.1

With the 5.1 is the first of the starters shipping, what is everyone's thoughts. (Besides hurry to my hand!) It has been long anticipated and is now here. These will be shipping before we know it, and new reviews will be hitting bladeforums, YouTube etc. (I'm waiting to see more knife throwing :D not that I'm condoning such abuse.)

When y'all get your new knives let's see some unboxings! Just for those of us unlucky enough not to have ordered one. :(
 
I know after seeing the picture that I'm excited to get mine. I thought it looked good from the design drawings, but the real life pic definitely made me happy to have ordered one and I'm really hoping it'll fit my hand right and be my go-to blade. TT, I don't think you'll have a problem getting one from the amount of extras they're making.
 
Yeah! I want to watch a video review too on the new 5.1, especially wanting to see the new peened finishing.
 
My local shop has one! Its a sample for him to demo. The thing is even better than the last version. I handled it. Kydex is better, finish is better, ergos are better. I didn't think it was possible but it is. I'm glad I ordered one.

I didn't order one cause I already have a 5.1 and wanted to test a different model out.

You guys have outdone yourselves. That thing is sweet! I would have put up a picture, but I left my phone in the truck. Also did you guys change the edge finishing process? This one had damn near a mirror polish. None of my others have had that.

The old kydex was good, but the new is even better. Much smoother finishing on the edges and the slots were more uniform.
 
I can honestly say this... I paid $217 for my 5.1 preorder, blaze g10, and black kydex. After seeing the sample Guy and Ellie could easily justify $350.00 for that package. A big thanks to S!K for literally making the BEST value in outdoor cutlery on the market today. With the ergos, and all the finish updates and constant drive to improve, all while offering prices that are below what you would expect and performance higher than one would expect, S!K is going to dominate the market... I really hope to see them increase their production capability, because the demand is high already, but after these new knives hit the market, demand is going to go even higher.
 
Riz, that's another comment from our forum that Guy and Ellie deserve to see and take to heart. Any chance you could sneak some pics the next time you're at this store? :D

I will. The shop is about a block away from my son's preschool. Next time I there to pick him up, I will slide in and get a pic or ten!

Riz, man at first I thought you were joking. If you had posted a pic right off the bat it would probably have blown my mind, what with the way you're describing it. I can't wait to see that thing.
 
No jokes! Its the shit! Maybe this weekend I can get back there.
 
I can't believe it. I only know of one blade shop close, and he does customs. Only other place is the Army Navy store and the mall kiosk. :( I know blasphemy!!!!

Not really. I mean, Guy is always looking for ways to refine the process, but there weren't any huge changes. The edge is more due to the way those are being heat treated now.

We have some ideas that we are hoping will help. Once we have all the details figured out we will let you guys know about the changes.
 
Yes it is in Frederick. Survive! Started in Gettysburg PA and had a relationship with the owner when they started up.
