Hey all. Has anyone else had any problems with orders from Survive Knives? I placed 2 separate orders with them in November of 2022. We are rapidly approaching the one year mark and there’s nothing but crickets on their end. They don’t answer phones, voicemail is full and they don’t respond to emails. I have confirmed that they took my payment. I’ve watched all the so called “update” videos that don’t actually provide any updates other than “we’re working”.
Starting to feel like I’ve been scammed

Before this thread gets locked…

Self disclosing here… I was one of their “fanboys” for lack of a better term and a huge supporter of them in the beginning. Thats no longer the case.

Their knives are great. They are horrible at filling orders in a timely fashion. Their business model is total crap. I waited over 5 years for one. I honestly dont know how they are still operating and how Guy is able to turn enough profit to “survive”

Also… it is a fact that EVERYTHING I have ever bought from them was delivered and was excellent. Total I have owned around 10 of their products.

The issue with them is that they are one minor disaster away from you never getting your knife and losing your money.

If you dont want to wait for an unspecified period of time, then get your money back.

If you dont care, you might get your knife EVENTUALLY. There is no way to figure out how long that will be and as stated before it wouldnt take much of an issue to completely shutter their business.

You MIGHT get your knife eventually. There are people who’ve been waiting for eight years. WHY would you give your money to anybody who can’t tell you if or when you’ll ever get what you paid for, when there are plenty of other makers who can provide equal or better quality knives in a much more timely fashion, or at the very least be honest about when they’ll be delivered. Way too many people buying these people’s highly censored social media bullshit.

Thanks for all the info guys. I already halted payment on one of the orders, but Visa said too much time has passed for such action.
I read so many positive reviews of their product that I didn’t feel the need to investigate the company. My mistake.
To answer Danny Linguini’s question- they do state a delivery window of 8-12 weeks when you place an order.

Unfortunately it does appear that you are correct.

Evidence of this is that they have 27 different models on their website. Its almost as if you have to have that many so you can skim funds from each to complete a run of the most “current” in their production schedule. One of the biggest issues that compounded the problems they have is, that early on, they were selling Mid-tech knives that should have been priced around or above $400. Guy priced everything at or around $200. It created a wild demand. He couldnt keep up, took orders he couldnt fill and then got buried in a back log.

A properly run “preorder” business would only open/offer preorder for one model at a time. (Those products would be appropriately valued and priced to match the current market.) he should have bought the materials with cash on hand or a small business loan and then know those materials makes, for example, 100 knives. Allow for the pre order of 100 knives. Take that profit and scale up the next material order for each consecutive run. Maybe 120, then 140 and so on. Eventually you will be able to continuously offer product and actually turn a profit.

What it seems that they do is order materials for X number of knives. Then they dont say the run equals X completed knives and limit the purchases. They keep the run open until orders stop coming in. They might take 2X or 3X “completed” orders, and then bump anything over 1X down the road.

Their instagram is probably what is keeping them afloat at this point. New people see their stuff and go WOW! Then they order and wait. And wait. And wait. Anyone who comes here to BF will get the facts.

Another thing that people should notice on IG is that they have their comments locked to prevent folks from dropping the facts on every post they make.

This is a full on lie and Survive! knows it

When they had a good couple of months and were clearing a bunch of backlog I ordered a second 5.1. They said they had completed a large run of 5.1 and shipped most and that there were extras that were almost ready. If $200 was gonna bankrupt me I would have not ordered. That order was placed on feb 19, 2023. I am till waiting on the 2-3 month time line. It was their last chance for me. I was hoping they finally had righted the ship. I regret ordering it because every time someone orders it lets them continue the charade.

Um, no. The problem is they are con-artists. Guy is a criminal. The entire history of their organization is a scam. Their way of living day to day is to grift along. The pricing wasn't a problem, it was part of the plan. "Such a good value!" I mean, you said it yourself, not a huge amount of money to risk so why not do it, right? Even though you knew better, you still gave them money again. This is the sort of behavior the grifting con-artist relies on and it works.

The only consideration anyone should give to survive is to avoid in every way possible and tell others to do the same.

Not that I need to justify anything I do to anyone, especially anyone on this forum…

Referring to post #12 of this thread, I ordered a 4.5 Bushcraft when the website said they were in stock. I had my knife in less than a week. Since they were able to ship in a time frame they said, I hoped they had gotten their stuff together and ordered a 5.1.

They lied about the shipping timeframe on the 5.1 and it proved to me that they arent any better and likely wont be.

If you read everything I have written in this thread its pretty obvious that I was explaining why I think their business is the way it is. Are they criminals? I am not sure. I think proving beyond a reasonable doubt that they have committed a crime would be quite difficult.

Are they taking advantage of people ABSOLUTELY.

If it is not clear to anyone reading, this is my opinion to anyone that is thinking of buying…

DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. IF YOU WANT A SURVIVE! SNAG IT OFF OF THE EXCHANGE.

The best cons skirt legality just enough to avoid prosecution. That is what survive is doing.

Why anyone would want to own a knife they can't buy new, because the maker is a thieving shitbag conman, is beyond me. Any sort of promotion here will be met with harsh criticism.

Has anyone tried to prosecute? Their BBB rating is already a F and I doubt reporting there does anything. Like the OP, I got grifted by this POS over a year ago and didn't think anything of ordering at the time. He had been hitting up reputable reviewers and some YouTube channels and getting the press. Site promised 90 day turnaround from preorder. I've been hitting his BS YouTube channel comments to MF him lately, but I want to take real action at this point. Anyone tried filing reports with the Federal Trade Commission or hitting up the PA Attorney General?

There are people reporting that they have contacted the PA AG. I would absolutely give that a try. Every time the AG hears about survive, no doubt they take more interest.
