I can understand your point but I found that part to be interesting and somewhat informative. I have heard of beetle nut before but did not realize that it produced a high.

Seemed like giving up to me.If it were a true life or death scenario,I'd want my wits about me.

...anyway,I loved Les' show & I'll miss it very much.

I believe he actually knew what the effects would be. Since a good deal of "average" people know it's effects he as a "survival expert" damn well should have known.
I think it was just a way of him saying screw this show, it's the end and I'm going out on a HIGH note
