Survivorman:The Last Episode

The betel nut probably helped clean out any parasites in his guts.

Cutting the survival trip short to have a ceremony with the natives was a good way to end it, imo - isn't that a fundamental objective of outdoor survival, getting back to people and community? I don't blame the guy for wanting to stop it - the boredom, isolation, and physical hardship can get tiresome after a while, not to mention the possible price he may pay for starving himself or exposing himself to exotic parasites and bugs later in his life.

Les Stroud did a great job with his series, and did a good job of providing responsible survival education and experience to the public.

The intro always sounded like someone saying "tickle tickle tickle tickle" to me. Anyone else? Makes me laugh... back on topic.

It was a decent episode but a little anti-climatic. I don't think it was his best episode.

The beetle nut was hilarious, which led to the high harmonica jam.

I liked seeing the orange bag and the "Survival in a Can". I liked the line "Survival instructions. Great." It was funny to see the tab rip off when he tried to open it.

I just expected a little more from a series finale. I always enjoyed Surviorman and hope to see Les back with something.

I was more taken aback by the dance because they had killed someone. Had to play it again to ensure I heard that correctly.

It was a weird episode.

I'd like to see Les write a retrospective book about the series, with comments about what he found most difficult, perhaps some humorous anecdotes, etc. When one considers the scope of his travels and the environments he has survived in, Les is really quite an adventurer.

Whoa, did they just kill someone, or is it a ceremony that is also held after a successful head-hunting foray, amongst other non-violent reasons? If the former, forget my last post about going back to community:eek: Have to admit I was freaked out by the bones in the noses stills.

It was a dance that used to be performed many years ago. No one was killed in the filming... Freaked out?? Imagine setting foot in Papua New Guinea in the 1800s to early 1900s. Those missionaries, etc. were out of their minds.

Haha .. looks like Les had a bad trip off of that Betel Nut he was chewing
He said it wasn't as powerful as cocaine or opium ....hmmmmmm

It's not like it's a surprise, you can tell a lot about a person, just looking at their face.

That was also my understanding - it was traditional and was done after a kill, but no more.

With Les Stroud quiting Survivor Man and recently separation from his wife and with Bear Grylls healing from his injuries we might be stuck watching reruns for quite a while...

While most of television (and all of network tv) does suck these days, Survivorman was my favorite. Hate to see it go.
