I got my first Svord knife today, the Peasant knife. This is an amazing knife. Sharp out of the box, with a good blade geometry for standard cutting (~20 degree angle). I got mine for $16 ($12 for knife, $4 for shipping), and it has a tool steel blade (if anybody knows that kind of tool steel, I would appreciate it). I broke up a giant piece of cardboard, the cardboard that comes separating doors in packaging, and it was still razor sharp, as if i had just pulled it out of the packaging and touched it up. To say the least, if it had a slightly better handle, I would easily pay upwards of $30 for the knife. Otherwise I would have no problem with about $20. Only real problem is that it is a bit of a pain to open with one hand, but that makes it a better EDC, because it is more legal. Buy one if you get a chance, they are spectacular for the value.

comgrats...
if I'm not mistaken then the steel on it is L6 tool steel, like 1065-1075 I guess
And it's hand-forged...!
the knife is a cool thing, and it's already convexed, I don't need to ;)
It makes a good user, may be collectible...

Hi Dao.

They are great value for money. But I will correct you on the Hand Forged. The peasant knives are not hand forged.

The blades are stamped from L6 sheet, and then the bevels are ground on a machine that actually does a subtle convex grind. after that they then get a quick primary bevel applied.

They are 100% made by Svord in their NZ shop. if you convex the edge and blend it in you will get exceptional performance.

Svords are:thumbup:

@j man wow look at those svords. I was looking into snaging a fixed blade knife from them after seeing the peasant knife a couple of years ago. I never could find anything in the us other than the peasant though. Where did you get yours NZ?

Yes, I can't find anything for sale in the US other than the peasant. Those drop point hunters look sweet. How much do those run?

thanks for the information...
I think that they're great value knives, and look pretty "old"
I myself prefer the plastic handle one over the wood handle. BTW do you know the hardness on it?

i cant find any svord knives for sale in america! can i get some help?
well they're made in New Zealand but imported by American knife shops
you can easily find 'em for about $10-15 at knifecenter...

Quite common here in Australia. Great working knives.

The big bowie is a "Svord Von Tempsky Forest Ranger Bowie knife"
Bloody awesome knife. You could make a feather stick out if a Tiger Tank wih it.
Do a Google on the knife & the Man behind it. Very Interesting Bloke.
The knife blade is 11" long of pure power in L6 steel.

I would like to find a good source for these fixed blades in the US as well. I don't have any experience with them, but they look promising.

If you check out their website, they have all kinds of different models. There is even a section for customs. Yikes!

The US wholesalers name is on the website. Or you could contact a New Zealand BF member and ask if they could get them for you?

Just to have open disclosure.. I am the web Admin for Svord, as well as a knifemaker myself, and i also ship and sell svord knives for people all around the world who cannot find models locally. You can also contact Bryan Baker directly and order a knife depending on what it is. (its not a business for me, its a hobby, and I make bugger all for the effort.. I just offer it as a service to friends and youtube viewers who really want to try his blades. )

He has just changed all his designs (you can see the website) and the plastic acrylic handles wont be offered anymore except on the chef knife. all the deluxe sporting knives are now Sapele Mahogany. I just bought one 350b, so I can do a video and show you how this will look.

The steel has never actually been published by svord (just carbon steel) but it is L6 steel as far as Im aware, and Bryan has not mentioned that changing, although his advertising does allow for this. his kitchen range are all 12c27. He does it all inhouse and the blades are heat-treated by him to around 58rc.

Most of the dexluxe knives run at $180NZ - $230NZD.

I believe Blueridge may be importing more models soon and make them easier to access in USA and possibly at good prices.

Hi Kyle. I though you may be close to Bryan some how.lol
They are great knives. And i cant wait to get the 370BB with wood scales. Its one of my most used knives.
