Hey guys, as a new Busse and kin fan I felt that I MUST have a Ratmadu.

5 weeks ago I ordered one from Swamp Rat. I've yet to have any real acknowledgement of the order other than my Paypal statement saying that I paid for the knife. Swamp Rat's site says that the builds are custom and take at LEAST 3 to 5 weeks. I'm good with that.

I'm just left wondering. Do you get a shipping notification when the knife is done? How long has your Swamp Rat build taken? Am I close or is this one of those deals that takes much longer than the expected build time.

Thanks. :)

As I view this forum I realize that my question has been answered.

The build times can have little to do with the posted times and people have no idea what's going on until the order ships.

I understand why the used market is so strong.

Once the order is finished and ships you will receive an e-mail confirmation that your knife has shipped. In the e-mail you will have a tracking number as well.

I've been waiting for over 2 months for my Rucki now...

Ugh.......for some reason I didn't pay attention to the build time part, I thought the company store stuff was in stock. In the month or so since I ordered my Rucki others have popped up new on the exchange for less than what I paid + a wait. Wish I would have known.

I understand there not a giant company but they should improve the way they do business.Sadly its part of there marketing strategy so they never will make it easier to get one of there knives. Imo. i think the way busse does business is unethical and greedy

I do lots of buying from small builders that specialize in guitar gear and I'm not unfamiliar with this kind of situation. There are some builders that offer quality communication, great product and reasonably accurate lead times. Then there are the others that scoop up your money and then just leave you in the dark. My only repeat business is with those that have customer service that AT THE MINIMUM keeps me informed as to the status of my order.

I'll wait for the knife and I'm sure I'll enjoy it but SOME communication from SR once the order was placed would go a long way to making me feel comfortable about my decision to buy new.

Hey guys I would like to apologize for the less than stellar communication. We have been getting hit pretty hard with military orders for the Ratmandu. Keeping our men and women in the military well armed is our highest priority. We are working hard to get orders caught up and shipped out. Again I apologize for the lack of communication and we will do our best to keep you guys better informed in the future.

Thanks
Joshua

Thanks, Joshua and Lora, for chiming in... I've ordered a Ratmandu CG since Oct 23rd/24th, and aside from getting a confirmation email, I received no estimated ship date, or any other communication.

I was expecting something close to a 5 week lead-time, since that's what was said on the website, but it would have been nice if someone actually sent me an email either confirming a 3-5 week lead-time, or letting me know if it's likely to take longer.

I'm still patiently waiting... just wanted to be more "in the loop" and get a bit more communication about order status for something that is already paid for :)

Thanks!

I’m still patently waiting. My order was placed on Oct 4th. Not a record by any stretch. I think I waited for one of Charlie May’s knives for way over a year.

"Under promise and over deliver" are words to live by. :)

I think that most people are perfectly happy to wait if they know what time frame they're dealing with. It's good for business too.

Thanks for the information Joshua, making updates automatic and keeping up with lead times would probably make those waiting feel more comfortable with the experience.

Well said with under promising and over delivering...you can't go wrong with this philosophy. Swamp Rat....put yourselves in the customer's situation. Wouldn't you like a bit of timely communication? Bring it!:)

I have sent two emails to the customer service line asking for an update, I ordered my RMD on Oct 20th, and have had no reply. I sent to the other email listed in the thread where they announced the email problem, and still haven't had a reply.

Compare this to Busse. I can actually call them and get an answer. I have ordered exactly one Busse, a TGLB. I called the number listed for my RMD order on the Paypal receipt and got connected to Lexi. I told her my name and said I was calling to check on an order. She said, "that's for a Team Gemini, right?" I was amazed. I'm not a frequent user and it was the first time I called, but she knew my order just by me saying my name. That's service that leaves an impression. Right now, I'm less than impressed by the lack of service from Swamp Rat.

The fact that you can't call and speak to someone is disheartening. Couple this with less than reliable email communication and it doesn't really help the brand.

I remember the days when Eric would come out and say, "We have this and this in stock for immediate shipment in these color combos". Maybe that happens after they do a run and the pre-orders are filled. I placed my order for the Kill Devil Sniper Hawk on October 4th and I am also still waiting. Customer service said it is currently "in production". But.......it will get here when it gets here.

Yeah, I recently contacted Swamp Rat and never got a reply. I had to send a "contact request" lol.

Charlie May sounds like a custom maker, Swamp Rat makes production knives. I'd want my money back.

:thumbdn::rolleyes:

I really don't want to bust Swamp Rat's chops here. I was just wondering what to expect because I hadn't heard from the company as the window for the expected build times posted on their site was came to a close. To be fair, the site says the build will be AT LEAST 3 to 5 weeks, but that really does imply a build time in the neighborhood of a month. Otherwise, why say anything more than "builds usually take a month or two but can be longer depending on demand."

So, I was just wondering about where things stood and it sounds like Joshua feels that they can do better and will try to do so. That's good. :)

I ordered a knife from the company as well, sometime in early October, due to the positive reviews I found on this site. I sent them several E-mails for any updates, and had no replies to any of them so far. I honestly thought that I could say 'farewell' to the $200 (Canadian shipping is atrocious) I had paid. It's comforting to know that others are having similar issues, and that I am not on my own, but at this point I am not well inclined to do more business with the company in the future. How can I even recommend a product to my family and friends when it looks like an Internet scam? I'd hope that they at least send it via courier and not regular mail for the $50 shipping.

I'm waiting for a Kill Devil Sniper Hawk that I ordered OCT 11 , I knew there was a wait, but they really should keep a up to date wait time on their web site. All good things come to those that wait and It just makes it that much more exciting for me when she finally arrives. Other than the non accurate wait time on the site, I love all Bussekin and will continue to be a loyal customer.

The email issue seems to be getting resolved. I sent them an email with a custom shop inquiry the day before yesterday and got a response back today, I'm happy with that. I'll be sending my Vex in for a minor handle improvement.
