Swamp Rat build time?

Honestly issues like this is why I have yet to order my RMD. I really really want one but think I will just shop the secondary market, as much as I want one directly from the Swamp I just really disagree with the way they do business. They make an outstanding product but could use a bit of up training on the customer service side of things I think.

I believe if Swamp had accurate lead times posted & a phone number to contact them, they would have many more satisfied customers.

Wish I had found this thread 2 days ago when I ordered one. :( I just emailed CS for confirmation that 5 weeks is the longest wait I will have on the order or to reverse the paypal transaction. Will see what happens I guess.

Hey guys I would like to apologize for the less than stellar communication. We have been getting hit pretty hard with military orders for the Ratmandu. Keeping our men and women in the military well armed is our highest priority. We are working hard to get orders caught up and shipped out. Again I apologize for the lack of communication and we will do our best to keep you guys better informed in the future.

Thanks
Joshua

I wonder what sheath this military will use.............................................

It took six weeks for my recent Rodent Solution custom to be ready. It is well worth both the price, and the wait.

I have waited far longer for customs from individual makers so I don't see what all the complaining is about. No one can tell what day or hour a blade will be finished.

Next up will either be a custom rodent 4 or 6.

The complaining is because of the utter lack of communication. I've sent 4 emails and not received a single response. That's appalling customer service. Couple this with the fact that there is no other way to communicate with them. You can't call so there is no way to receive any information at all. So, as a customer, should I be happy that a company that took my money the same day I placed my order, 2 months ago, won't even bother to reply when I send multiple emails?

Oh, and what does this say about their warranty? A warranty is only as good as the company behind it. If there is only one way to communicate with Swamp Rat and they don't even honor that, how would I be able to access warranty services if I needed them? Their warranty is only as good as the communication and right now that's not worth very much.

Just responding to emails and saying, "hey, we're behind and expect to ship sometime in the next X weeks," would be great. But the lack of communication is really poor business and has significantly, if not permanently, damaged the brand for me. If I had not already ordered and received a custom sheath for my knife, I'd just cancel it and start a dispute with paypal.

As has been pointed out, it's not the wait, it's the lack of communication. Leaving customers wondering where their knife is isn't good business. Of course, you're the first person to mention anyone needing to know the "Day or hour" their blade will be ready. That's hyperbole and basically mocks anyone that simply has a desire to know where they stand with their order. Not cool.

I'm sure I'll love me Swamp Rat when it gets here. Of course, I have ZERO idea when that will be.

I ordered my KDSH on Oct. 24th, my birthday. I'm not particularly concerned about the wait time, but I have quite a few Swamp Rats, and i was not expecting the lead time to be accurate.

I do find the lack or responsiveness disturbing. The last time I ordered from the Swamp, Eric was still posting what they had in stock, what color combos, and lead times. Communication was excellent. I assumed nothing had changed since i have not tried to contact them.

I knew my options, I knew i could pick one up on the marketplace, i know that BUSSE will roll through my area. I know that i can have someone pick something up for me at a show.

I genuinely feel bad for the people who saw the lead time, didn't know about the options, and have not received a response. Some time spent answering emails goes a very long way towards customer satisfaction. especially when your marketing relies heavily on your forum reputation.

Just to be clear, I've waited over a year several times for good custom gun leather, so it's not that I can't be patient. What I don't like is seeing a delivery time quoted with a +/- one week slop built in not being even close.

When I was coating guns I posted the same on my website but I kept it up to date and accurate, it's not that hard. I also responded to emails within a 24hr period. It's just good business and frankly I'm done dealing with people who treat their customers like crap.

I've sent an email to RatKnives and got no response, which didn't surprise me after reading this thread. I've now sent an email to busse on the PP transaction asking for a reversal since they share the same account. Next week it will go to PP conflict management and the BBB derating route etc. if I have not heard from them.

The point about a warranty being kept when the maker can't be gotten a hold of is very valid BTW.

If you are having problems with ordering or have any questions, you can email Swamp Rat Knife Company at ratcustomerservice@toast.net. We will do whatever we can to help. If this does not work please send me a PM.

Hindsight,
I have sent emails to ratcustomerservice@toast.net and bussesales@bright.net in the past 2 days since finding this thread.

I can not send PM because of permissions issues (not enough posts I would guess) so I'll post my email content here and hope you will respond here also.

I just ordered 2 days ago (PayPal Unique Transaction ID #56G44948J7339174Y) and then found the thread below stating that the 3-5 week delivery time on your website is not accurate and I would like to either be assured that 5 weeks is the max wait I will have on the order or have the transaction reversed.

Thank you, -Jim

Just received my RMD. 10 weeks wait time. Well worth it.

My Ratmandu is in the mail and may be here today. That'll be about 7 weeks. I wouldn't have even started the thread if I had any idea of when the knife would be finished. I did get a response to Saturday's email on Wednesday.

I have no idea what SRs business model is, but if they we're able to provide a guesstimate date of completion and some kind of confirmation when they receive the order, they'd likely have happier and patient customers waiting on their knives. :)

I ordered my Rucki a couple days ago i left a message in the instructions part of the order that I would plz like a email on my wait time and the responded the next day that it be 5 to 7 weeks.. So my experience is already much better than yours I guess. Glad to here you got your blade though!

Joshua has posted in this thread that they're going to do better with communication. It seems to be happening and I think that's absolutely great for everyone involved. :)

Seems it's long overdue from what I've been reading. If they get it together with the CS I will definitely consider the RMD again in the future.

Having a great product is no excuse for having poor CS. My email asked for a confirmation just as Mr.LCV did but I never heard from them, just a charge back. I assumed that meant their website was not correct and they were so far off that they figured I would not be happy with an extra few weeks.

No hard feeling though. The Barknven F1 I bought with the refund will be here tomorrow from KSF so all is good.

I wonder how long a resolution would have taken if I didn't find this thread and forum though?

My Kill Devil Sniper Hawk order arrived today. I didn't even know it was on it's way to me until the mail carrier knocked on my door for a signature. I placed my order on October 4th.
