Thanks for agreeing to donate me your Choppy!!! I will be looking for it in the mail.

*wakes up from dream*

Im more than willing to let you play with it. Your "only" 9 hours away come on over 1 weekend and we'll get out of this $hitty city and find some woods LOL

The other RMD I had to get (off the exchange), so now I have 2, an unusual circumstance for me:

You've started a trend with your 2-tone blades  By the way, you should add a link in your sig-line for us folks to find your own knives/tools when they're available

HAHA!! Yea i love me some 2 tone blades!!

Good idea on the link, thanks bud!

I may have to send my Du off to have the coating removed from the flat grind section of the blade.

Chiral do you find it adds to the performance of the knife or is it more for looks?

Here is my Du from a recent trip to the mountains of Virginia.

 I wasn't quite willing to strip the bevel of my tanker-grey knife, and the black:satin contrast is more dramatic anyway, it really 'pops'.

Performance difference: curling tinder really only requires the edge, i don't notice a difference there (both of mine are apex'd ~15-dps), same goes for other such tasks. But cutting deep into wood/vines/roots, or slicing up cardboard, rope, meat, veggies, etc. the thinned-down edge and slick bevel lend REALLY noticeable superiority  - it bites DEEP and just slides along. And the blending of the edge back into the primary still keeps some thickness upfront for taking lateral loads. It won't slice like my little timos- knives but would probably have given my GSO-5.1 a run for its money! (alas, had to let that one go). I have to give it a little more care than the coated model to prevent corrosion (e.g. I don't worry about the coated one at all, but this one isn't left sitting wet/dirty or in humid environment). I'm now thinking about trying to strip the bevel of my Rodent 9 to match WW's choppy, then thin the bevel a bit so it cuts more like my GSO-10 and less like my hatchet ;) But on a larger blade, I worry more about corrosion... *shrug*

Here's a few pics of my lonely Solution waiting on RMD to get here.
Before and after etching/stripping, can't decide whether to do the RMD too when it gets here or wait for the coating to wear.

Very happy with results, I know next time to leave the etchant on the logo for much longer to allow for more surface sanding to even out the finish. BTW all the "grinding/sanding" was done with my WSKO. Pretty neat.

A few better pics of my recently stripped RS, quite proud of the finish I ended up with.

Lance23 - Did you leave the handles on when you stripped it?

BTW it looks great. Makes me want to strip mine.
