Swamp Rat Threads Started Elswhere

What do you mean somebody else's?
It would be RMD in INFI with a few mods, noone is reinventing a wheel here.

You're right, I believe what I had read was referring to using people's drawings for design's.

After thinking about this some more, I don't believe we will ever see an INFI RMD for a simple reason :

The only INFI knife that was ever produced was the Inficoot, which was allegedly a mistake. Yes, they have used D2 before with knives like the Vex and such but they've definitely never used INFI by choice.

The whole point of Swamp Rat was to make knives that were much more affordable than Busse Combat, and using INFI steel to produce the knives would essentially make them just as pricey as Busse Combat.

To me, I just don't see it happening but you guys can still dream about it..... ;)

No idea what all the N2K RMD LMFAO SAR 399 stuff means, still learning but I want one also. Sign me up.

N2K is Need2Know, RMD is Ratmandu, LMFAO is laughing my F'in A$$ OFF, SAR 399 = 399 Saudi Riyal = 106.39 US Dollar -Or maybe- SAR-4 Limited Edition (2008)= $399

Glad i could help :)

Scrap Yard is lower price range than Swamp Rat but they do INFI.

Most recent example is the War Dog.

So, N2K RMD is not a never-to-be based on INFI use alone.

The War Dog was also $180 knife w/ res-c handles (which kept cost down). Add $50 or so for micarta handles and your approaching what a Busse would cost for a similar sized blade. The Scrap Yard INFI was also supposedly small scraps that came from the Busse shop cutting blanks, that would have likely just been thrown away. Not saying that the N2K RMD definitely won't happen, just saying it's pretty unlikely just by looking at history.

Those that know, are aware we talked potential price of this N2K RMD and nobody was scared away at a price that exceeds your 180+50 by 20-70.

Honestly steel cost is a small amount of the final cost of a knife I would venture to say with no other mark up changing a RMD from SR101 to INFI would likely only up the cost of the knife maybe 20-30 dollars.

No one will ever convince me INFI cost more than something like S110V or K390.

Actually it probably is given the secret formula ;), and that it is basically a custom steel. I'd say the economies of scale would work against INFI

INFI has the cool factor and all, but after using both very Hard and under all conditions, I still nod towards SR101.

Rust resistance is supposed to be INFI's advantage, but I still have no problems with SR101 to this day and I have several stripped blades well used and stored in their sheaths with no problems. But I do take care of my tools. :)

Dont get me wrong, I'd love to see an INFI RatManDu. :D

I actually prefer SR77 to both and would like to see it's return, but that's for another forum.

Speaking of sr77 :D

S7 is an awesome steel for impact tools and that's part of the reason I say the Crash Rat is the best hawk ever put out by the Busse shops. That's and its design just screams "I am the Crash Rat and I am designed to break things." were as I think the Rattle Hawk looks more like something out of a Bud K catalog and the KDSH looks like a duel purpose between combat and woods.

Aside from the Buck Rogers looks, the Rattlehawk is an amazing performer. Mine bites into wood so easy its scary, the one main super scary part is looking at that spike in use. One has to remain alert. :p

Love it in big knives, but in small stuff I've only had two and both did not do well in use. I part blame it on the silly geometry they put on the edge at the factory. The double cut Dumster Mutt was blunt, way too much steel to remove to make it sharp. The Dogfather was good, it had a decent edge angle, impact resistance for S7 is amazing. Wear resistance (ie edge holding) is not so good, especially in fibrous materials.

No problem man, Looks like im missing one though....

The CR is a monster. It just feel indestructible in hand. I didnt even know it was SR77 until today.
