hello balisong feinds,

i just picked up the new SWAT "eye of the tiger" balis and i'm pretty amazed with it.

here's my 2 cents worth...

very nice 154cm blade! 5" long  WOW! aluminum alloy handles that they calim to be stronger or s****ier than Titanium. (i'm not sure if i buy this claim, but the handles are nice and anodized black) very light. and yes lighter than BM42's. it only weighs 4 ounces.

i hate to admit it but this knife smokes BM balis. when it comes to performance. this is probably one of the most smoothest balis i've ever played around with. there is very minimal play on this bali unlike BM's (Sorry Les!)VERY quiet, no banging action. this is due to the plastic bushings they use on the joints.

the price tag on this is $116 (CHEAP)

the only flaw...the blade edge on one of the two SWAT's that i bought is not as sharp as BM's

other than that. i think this knife is a big sleeper.

Hi Saint O' Killers! :D Welcome to the balisong forum!!!!

Yeah, the other day..a friend of mine let me see one of the SWAT balisongs that he bought.I got manipulate it a few times and I too,
was amazed with its performance.I do agree with you on it being a really smooth balisong.

I can't wait to get mine ;)

Can anyone comment on this? I also wonder about this claim.

How durable would plastic bushings be?

Yup, the coating's supposed to give you better grip, and I hear it's pretty darn durable...unlike the Bear 116 I sold.

You mean like sandpaper?

I think it's kinda soft. But, keep in mind that I don't actually own one. The coating on the Bear I mentioned wasn't abrasive.

powdercoating isnt rough or abrasive at all my cars frame is powdercoated and its very smooth feeling but not slick if you know what I mean

You mentioned that the SWAT balisong smokes Benchmade. To which Benchmade Balisong are you referring to?

Let me assure you that SOMEONE does not know exactly what they are talking about. Aluminum is lighter than Titanium, but stronger "NO!" 6A/4V Ti has a tensile strength around 150,000-170,000 psi which is stronger than most steels, 6a/6v/4t Ti has a strength of up to 180,000. Aluminum a great metal but it's only advantage over Ti is that it is lighter not stronger.

SWAT "eye of the tiger" balisong.

i'm still trying to abuse this knife just to see how long the plastic bushings would last. it's been a week and i've flipped it averaging 3 hours a day. it seems to hold pretty well. still very minimal play. this knife will be my primary carry so we'll see how long it will last. so starting today i'll be using the blade edge for some cutting.

i say "it smokes benchmade in performance" only! because it is smoother when you flip it and there is no play, therefore there is no banging noises. although it may not be as fast as benchmade. but i think it is very user friendly. :)

finger twirls and aireal flips ar easier to do with this knife because of its length and balance. the handles tend to rotate slower when tossed in the air, making it easy to catch.

that's it for now. i'll let everyone know how this knife holds next week.

BTW, i don't like the carry sheath it came with. it has a metal clip for pocket carry and this metal clip is bottoned to the inside of the sheath and tends to scratch the coating on the handles.

I'll ask again. You say the SWAT balisong smokes Benchmade, but which Benchmade model are you comparing this to? Are you talking about one of the economy models such as the 239, or are you referring to a PC International Series maybe?
