SWAT "Eye of the Tiger" balisongs

When I adjust the torx screws on my 42s, 43, and 47A there is not any play or banging noises that you reffer to.;)

i'd say it smokes BM42 and BM43. although i love the new BM43 for it's speed performance no doubt.;)

What!!!! Why that's blasphemy! :D

hmmm, i adjusted the screws on my BM42's as well (not too tight, of course...) it slowed down a bit and aerial moves were not the same. it lost that fast snappy feel to it. :(

i think im sold on this one. i just ordered it from http://www.tripleaughtdesign.com/balisong.htm for 115. i love the powdered handles and the five inch blade. i hope it lives up to my expectations of the perfect balisong. i still doubt it will replace my double edged latchless 42. and by the way the bushings are bronze not plastic.

Bronze? i heard plastic, oh well. These sound nice. Now I want to get one too. I was also going to say that when I tightened my BM's screws i has no play eighther. Except for my 42A which is due to a small latch, my 42 because it needs some serious lock tite. But my 43 is now perfect. NO play hahahah!:D :D
Hey does anyone know what flips better, the Al or the brass versions?

1. The handles are not made of 6061 T6, they are made of an aluminum alloy called 60/80/20 which, according to the manufacturer, is both stronger and lighter than titanium. He says he got it off a government contract (and that they sent it to him to mess around with).

2. If you directly compare the two, IMHO, the SWAT *does* smoke the BM 42's. It's as easy as picking up one of each - if you pick up the Benchmade, undo the latch, and shake, you can hear and feel the metal rattling. It's how it's put together.

You pick up the SWAT and there is no-where near the play, and it's practically silent. Very very smooth.

Plus, it has a 154CM blade.

I own both, and personally I prefer the SWAT.

When I shake my 42 unlatched, all the noise I hear is from the latch dangling. Plus, mine came from the factory practically perfect. No blade play at all. The only problem was that it squeeked and Millitec fixed that. Also the 5 inch blade is legal to carry almost nowhere.

I haven't yet figured out the bronze bushing thing; I've got/had both the alloy and brass handled knives and the bushings are PLASTIC/TEFLON, not bronze! I prefer the alloy handled one to the brass knife; much quicker! My 43 is my new EDC and it preforms beautifully, by the way!!!! My BM's aren't going anywhere and I agree with Gollnick that it's not quite the same when you can't hear the subtle clicking of the knife as it works.....:)

hm. well, whether or not it "smokes" the bms, it sure sounds good. all these positive reviews make me think i should get one... time to start shopping! teehee! :)
first, though, a question: how well are the tang pin cups holding up? do they exhibit much wear from contact with the pin?
peace.
aleX.

This all depends on what information this is being based on, I have been in the feild of metalurgy for some time and have even performed the actual tests and experiments for a research facility. I have seen aluminum alloys out perform Titanium but ONLY in the area of STRENGTH to WEIGHT RATIO, I have never seen any aluminum alloy come even CLOSE to the ultimate strength of Titanium. Like I said befor in another thread, a .25" test tensil of 6a/4v Titanium will support a load of over 8,000 pounds. To sum it up you could dangle a Chevy Suburban from a bridge with a Titanium bolt that is less than the diameter of a pencil.

Shite, that means I can support my house with my BM 42!!! :D :D

HAHAHAHA:D Depending on the size of your house! I think you might be pushing it, but maybe with both handles!:D (laughing)

I have seen some amazing things, and performed some amazing tests with all types of metal, and Titanium is by far the most piculiar and interesting substance on the planet to me. Not that I'm being bias over this particular alloy, I've just seen the tests and results for steel, ti, aluminum, most alloys combining the formentioned and most composites (carbon fiber, graphite, fiberglass, ect..... And I'm not bashing this alluminum alloy that is mentioned, if you want to know the truth 6a/4v Titanium is not the strongest breed of Titanium either.

But I'll definately be purchasing one or two just from your remarks.

Well here Ive heard the blade carry limit is 6". So I think it is great to have people makig these larger sizes.

New info!!! I did some searching and found that the claim to be stronger than Titanium is only compared to "Cast Titanium" and it does'nt even say what grade of "Cast Titanium" they are refering too. Just another marketing ploy! I can guarantee that I'll be getting one or two regardless:D

The SWAT balisong is a sweet knife. My martial arts buddy has one, and he is always flipping it. I walked into his office the other day, and he was talking on the phone, flipping the thing. Kind of like twirling pens, a subconcious habit. Going to have to get me one of those SWAT knives.

Kyui Su Kim,
That is reasonable, here there is no actual blade length limit, just cops who think they can make up laws like as long as the width of your palm.

Take care and flip safely,
Reed
