Swick 5/6

Mister Coffee,

Thanx for the support and encouragement.

Knives are finished. Waiting for sheaths. Certainly if we could produce faster, we would. We're planning on expanding our Golden factory again, but that is not a 2 day fix. The sudden growth in demand for our products is greatly appreciated, but also has it's frustrations. Your kind understanding and patience is appreciated.

? It is just a company mate... If they say something that is untrue that can be held accountable no ?

Look at the dates. We're in a global health emergency. While it's reasonable to hold people and companies accountable, it's also reasonable to consider the context. By the way, did anybody lose any money here? If money was taken, then it's reasonable ask that the money be returned.

My mother always said, "You've got to make your own fun in this life." Let's not lose sight of our fun. Nobody's here because their life depends upon them getting a new knife. Blues told me this in a DM.

Note: I could be lying about the Blues part. 🤫

I think part of the frustration is that there are constantly new exclusives being put out. I understand these are for existing models and the Swick, although not new, hasn’t had a sheath before. In the end, Spyderco can run their company however they want. I still love them and they are by far my favorite knife brand. I hope the Swick arrives soon, but whenever it gets here, you can bet it will be done right. Sometimes that takes a bit longer, but it’s better than taking shortcuts and getting an inferior product.

Sal provided a detailed update on the Spyderco forums regarding the upcoming Swick models. It seems it should be out in the next few weeks or so! He also detailed the difficulties in getting the sheath just right, which was the primary holdup. I, for one, am glad they took the necessary time to get it right. I’ve had more than few fixed blades disappoint due to a subpar sheath, and I don’t think that will be an issue with the Swick. This is exactly why I keep buying Spyderco knives and why I always trust their quality.

Thanks for the update!

I've seen plenty of good fixed blade knives ruined by subpar sheaths. I appreciate the attention to detail in wanting to get it just right. I can't wait to get both a plain edge and serrated version.

I hope soon I pre ordered it from knife center at least 9 months ago we need to start the hype train.
He mentioned that the knives are done and just waiting for sheath its crazy how long that could take.

I hear ya. I preordered mine the day they were announced, so it has been over five hundred days for me. I do know Sal said the sheath maker had undergone some surgeries and was a bit behind, so I suspect that is the reason for the hold up.

Still in-the-works. Knives are complete, sheaths are the bottleneck. Coming in, but slowly. Hard sheath to make.

Hi Aronb,

Thanx much for the kind words. Sheaths are coming in slowly.

Hi Edge,

Yes, but she's been dealing with surgeries lately so production is slow.

Hi Dimiw,

Much has been pushed back, primarily due to the requirements on COVID, not jut LC. As mentioned in the post before yours, the Swicks were pushed back to November. New models often have some unexpected glitches.

Any update on release date?
Thanks

Hi Aronb.

Report yesterday that SheathPro is back in production. Much backlog, but moving forward.
