Swiss Army Alox?

I had an alox Soldier. Great knife, but I sold it. I missed having a secondary pen blade, and the tweezers.

Many seem to cite the tweezers as a reason to stick with plastic. I've found them to be garbage. Do yourself a favor and get a pair of these on your keys:

Seen as though I'll not be doing much tomorrow I shall photo my small bunch of Alox models....one of which is a rare Woodsman model.

Jack - oh how I knew you would bite! ;p
They sell it in Sainsbury's ya know. Tis good diff mind....and I have been known to out it on m'fish n chips....when there's some Yorkshire caviar to be had too mind ;)

Stelth - Can't argue with you there. Those Sliver Grippers cannot be beaten as far I'm concerned. You can even get a titanium variant now too....fancy pants.

While they are light duty, they are excellent at pulling small hairs or splinters. The SAK tweezers are much more capable than I gave them credit for.

What is that in you picture?

Edit: Found it. Uncle Bills Gripper.

I find this one is extremely durable and useful. It went through the washer with no ill effects. The Alox version is thinner compared to the midnight minichamp in standard red handles. I don't use the implements much and also carry a classic on my keychain. I'm pretty sure this is a Swiss Bianco exclusive. Bought it used here on the exchange.

The red cadet is very pocket friendly and has served me well. The two layer alox patterns are thin. This one was also used and shows some scrapes to the finish. These are still available for cheap.

And my latest in green is the Lumberjack. It's a two layer 84mm size with a blade, saw and opener. There are other colors as I'm sure this one is not for everyone. It's also a Swiss Bianco pattern.

The Farmer is a great outdoor knife as is the Pioneer. Both are the larger sized Alox. The electrician is also a nice knife. I believe it and a few others are being discontinued.

Very nice Swis sBianco's there Brian. That Lumberjack is a good colour. I've been eyeing up those Vagabonds on his site of late.

Here are my few Alox offerings as promised.

From L to R; Vic. Alox Bantam, Vic. Alox Solo, Vic. Woodsman & Wen. Soldier

Go big or go home and get some silver :) Keeps your tooth pick and tweezers. (Sorry not just knife pic...used old watch picture)

I like alox and cellidor; why settle for only one when you can have both? The Vic Rambler compliments my Pioneer (and any other knife I may carry) quite nicely. I find the pick and tweezer tools quite handy!

I love my alox pioneer, and dont really like the plastic handled saks.

That being said, i would like an alox sak a lot more with a set of scissors in it. Im aware of at least one person who will customize but i still haven't felt like the cost was really worth the benefit for me.

I'm interested in having a Farmer done up, but I was waiting. I had talked with him about adding the slots for tweezers and toothpick and he was waiting on some machine equipment to do such things as doing it with a file is quite a burden.

I carried a Vic Huntsman for a while in the Army and found the tweezers a lot better than what came in my Army Aid Bag. Pulled quite a few splinters and ticks off my soldiers with them.

That said, I got a fancy-smancy set of tweezers through some company rep when I worked at the hospital a few years back. Permanent spot in my First Aid kit I take on hikes and campouts.

jkulysses I'd say try for either a Cadet or Pioneer, either of them can be found pretty easily in black, and they look great in black.

Thanks Scuffuk. I think a copper Rambler would be nice. I like your alox bantam. That has to be one of the thinnest and lightest knives of that size on the market.

Don't kid yourself, buy several different ones. You'll soon figure out which one you like best. More is good.
