Swiss Army Knife or Sebenza…

So I say both. It's only money
With you on that! I love my SAKs and always have one in the vehicle, backpack, fishing shirt pocket, etc. But a CRK is an elegantly overbuilt tool. Wonderful to hold and excellent to use. And then add in an appreciation that CR invented the frame lock, his knives truly changed the game. Expensive but worth it.

It's a yes/no fallacy, they are 100% complementary. If you can't carry both you need different pants :)

For a pretty decent while i carried nothing but a swiss army knife, models vary, and for me--- what i found is that besides the knife, the only tools that saw any real use were the scissors and cap lifter (and toothpick/tweezer) the knife blade saw the most use out of all tools, i also discovered that if you buy enough swiss army knives at once and open around 8 boxes you will see that there are some hiccups in their QC, some blades had side to side play, some had rough sounding openings, some of the tools in the minichamp didnt snap close, you had to sort of, push them closed; some blades had inconsistent grinds near the top and quite a few had blunted tips (what's going on here??)
So I decided to redefine the swiss army knife as more of a multitool (nice to have just in case) than a sole this-and-nothing-else edc
I have the huntsman and super tinker in the drawer and never reached for it in weeks, if I need to cut something I have folding knives that cut so much better than the swiss army blade, not to mention with the locking mechanism, the other knives have a much wider range of utility/emergency value

The argument that the Swiss Army Knife has more tools for various tasks only really works on the larger models that are annoying to carry. I keep a Swisschamp in my backpack every day but would never choose it over my Sebenza for my pocket.

I say buy the swiss army knife for the tools and throw it in your day bag, for the "have it not need it over need it and not have it" scenarios and carry the seb for actual real knife work.

With my RangerGrip (very large) SAK , I have a 4" wood saw , #2 Philips and an array of other useful tools available, for jobs that no regular knife can perform .

But , if I just want to cut , slash , hack or chop , fondle or fidget ...it's never a SAK I reach for .

As already stated , most guys that carry a SAK , will also have another knife / knives on board . 🤷‍♂️

Does not compute:

I carry a SAK Farmer or Pioneer X almost everyday ... but that is WITH whatever modern folder I clip in my pocket and that is quite often a CPK CRK. Add in that probably 90% of the time I carry a fixed blade on top of the two folders. These are so vastly different folders that to me there really is no comparison / either or kind of thing with these two knives.

Where, where can I get one; now, take my money !

Sorry, could not resist. 100% with you.

Back in the day all I had was a Buck 112 it got used and abused for many years. I even used to open cans of ravioli with it, then I received a Swiss Champ as a gift that had a much better can opener and may other uses. When I was young my case slipjoint closed on my finger and gave me a pretty nasty cut. As a result I do not like performing heavy cutting tasks with a slipjoint, and carrying both the 112 and SAK together is too bulky. Then Gerber released the Parabelllum problem solved! Kinda, I carried the swisschamp in the pouch on the parabellum sheath and carried the Parabellum in the fixed blade arrangement. Still a big bulky arrangement though. Nowadays I have a Sebenza and it's a very good knife, I also have many SAKs. If I could keep only one it would be the SAK Champ C. Why you asked? because of the 10X glass magnifying glass, wood saw, file and overall size.
