Sword for the Arkansas Show -PICTURES of Complete Sword

Scott that is looking good you are really pushing yourself to a new level keep it up it is fun to watch.

Thanks again for the comments folks..

wow... the hilt has been more challenging than I thought. I had to come up with a whole new pommel.. now a solid piece of wrought iron. And I've went through several grip treatments. I'm finally settled... now I just need to attend to all the little cosmetic issues. In the meantime... here is my 'grim pose' holding my sword. The grimness is a facade since I'm really tickled pink.

you got yourself a real 'snowman slayer' right there!
Nice work dude!

Impressive Scott! Very Impressive!

Looking to see what comes out of your shop in the New Year.

Killer sword!

I cannot wait for this show, I'm surprised so many members from far away are planning to attend.

Here is a little video I made today... unedited... just a quickie.. of me playing with my sword. As well as my son and his little hawk (unsharpened) I made him for Christmas.

The sword actually isn't even sharpened yet.. although it's ground to practically zero.

I like your last comment after bravely flailing away at that stump..."It's still straight."

yeah Phil... that was actually more the reason for cutting... making sure the hilt stays together and that the blade is properly tempered. I had to do some torch tempering to correct warpage so I needed to make sure I didn't over do it.

Cool video Scott, good to see the whole family helping with the testing. looks like rock solid construction!

thanks guys.... it really is fun to handle.

So I'm completing the scabbard now (with integral belt) and just need to do the final finish on the blade and I will take the formal photographs. And call er done.

Mission accomplished! Your final statement was a good one too. "Nice throw!" That's not something you hear everyday when swords are involved. You've got quite a testing crew there!

Phil I'm not sure where my son came up with his sword throwing habits. I hope he hasn't seen me in my shop fling a blade away in disgust.

Ha, ha, surely you jest! His little, "watch this" just prior to flinging his toy sword lets you off the hook on that one. More likely he was just trying out his hawk throwing skills. Either that, or he's been watching too much Braveheart.
