History of Hephaestion
The City of Babylon was the Home for Alexander and Hephaestion. "Hephaistion" was a Macedonian Nobleman, and a General in the Army of Alexander the Great. He had been brought up with Alexander and shared all his secrets. He was by far the dearest of all the king's friends. Sharing Alexander's upbringing, Hephaestion would have learned to Fight and to Ride Well from an early age. With such a promising start, Hephaestion was molded into the man who would one day be the 2nd Most Powerful Man in Alexander’s Empire. This friendship lasted their whole lives, and was compared by others, as well as themselves, to that of Achilles and Patroclus. Hephaestion was honored as a Divine Hero.

Good looking sword; a falcata I presume.

Is the leather wrap an historical pattern?

Have you considered making small shields?

I admire your work.

There are not so many sword makers around.

Thanks all for you great comments.

Yes, this one of my versions of the Falcata. The leather wrap was added for a better grip. Not necessarily for historical reasons.

I have thought about making shields. Don't think I can post them here though. I'll have to check with the moderators.

Also, I just posted the link to the video I released on it at the top. Hope you like.

What kind of forge do you use to do the big ones?

I got a 4 foot long cast iron pipe out of an old house, 3 inches wide. I cap the end of it. I pulled some old asbestos insulation and wrapped it to keep the heat in it. Drilled a hole in the end cap and insert propane torch, and it heats up fairly quickly.
