This is definitely good to take into account. I have medium size hands on a good day, and this wasn't something I'd taken into account. Elof and Al, have either of you noticed much about hot spots, like what Leatherman was talking about? (also realizing that gloves would probably mitigate this).
All very good points, A to the 4th, thanks for all the input! By any chance do you have any pics of the 911 you could post?
Sweet avatar as well, bro! I love old school horror![]()
I've never actually owned a 911, but did own a R9 and Basic 10LE and 711 which are pretty similar in various ways to the 911. Gotta love Frankenstein, baby!!!
Not bad, it is quite a light blade. But I didn't do much chopping with it, mostly splitting logs for the fireplace![]()
Ah gotcha. Other than the two in the thread title, the B10 (choilless) is another one that I've wanted to get my hands on for some time. Were there ever CG/non LE models, or was it a strictly LE run?
This thread is turning out to be awesome for user information!
Speaking of flat ground versus saber ground. Between the two I use most for splitting wood the flat ground blade seems to win more often than not. My other splitter is the venerable Rat Mastiff, saber ground awesomness, the first one I grab is the SHe, full flat grind and it seems (maybe its me) to be more efficient at splitting. The Mastiff tended to get stuck, but it may be the rather obtuse edge grind versus the saber grind. I really need to grind that awful edge off of the Mastiff and see what happens.
That said, the fun part of working with these knives is making them your own. There are as many people as there are preferences, the fat edges on Bussekin are great fodder for putting the edge you want. Yea, lotsa grinding, but a very satisfying result when the work is done.![]()
I'd actually go so far as to say that if I could only have/carry one Busse, price not being a factor even....... I'd choose the Basic 10 LE in the choilless configuration. I think that says it all for me, if you've got the means to go for one of these over a R9 or 911 I'd say go for it!!!
