SYKCO 911 or SRKW Rodent 9?

Not bad, it is quite a light blade. But I didn't do much chopping with it, mostly splitting logs for the fireplace :D

This is definitely good to take into account. I have medium size hands on a good day, and this wasn't something I'd taken into account. Elof and Al, have either of you noticed much about hot spots, like what Leatherman was talking about? (also realizing that gloves would probably mitigate this).

I never actually chopped with the one I had. It was a catch and release. It didn't seem like the R9 would have any hotspots. As much as I love my M9, ill have to admit that the hump on the top of the handle can wear a blister into my palm. I notice its more comfortable if I choke up more than normal or hold it closer to the end. I REALLY want to get a CG version so I can see how the saber grind is. I keep seeing the LEs for under $300 yet people have been asking $350 or more for CG. Can't brin myself to spend more for a cheaper blade.

CG M9 is awesome!
It's either that there was less of CGs or they are so great (my personal view) that folks don't want to sell them. :D

All very good points, A to the 4th, thanks for all the input! By any chance do you have any pics of the 911 you could post?

Sweet avatar as well, bro! I love old school horror :p

I've never actually owned a 911, but did own a R9 and Basic 10LE and 711 which are pretty similar in various ways to the 911. Gotta love Frankenstein, baby!!!

Ah gotcha. Other than the two in the thread title, the B10 (choilless) is another one that I've wanted to get my hands on for some time. Were there ever CG/non LE models, or was it a strictly LE run?

Fair enough! That's predominantly what I would be using mine for as well, but I would also like something that will be able to handle most chopping needs, were I to be in any wilderness/camping situation that could call for it.

This thread is turning out to be awesome for user information!

Speaking of flat ground versus saber ground. Between the two I use most for splitting wood the flat ground blade seems to win more often than not. My other splitter is the venerable Rat Mastiff, saber ground awesomness, the first one I grab is the SHe, full flat grind and it seems (maybe its me) to be more efficient at splitting. The Mastiff tended to get stuck, but it may be the rather obtuse edge grind versus the saber grind. I really need to grind that awful edge off of the Mastiff and see what happens.

That said, the fun part of working with these knives is making them your own. There are as many people as there are preferences, the fat edges on Bussekin are great fodder for putting the edge you want. Yea, lotsa grinding, but a very satisfying result when the work is done. :)

Jerry stated when the Basic 10 LE was released that there would be no other version of the Basic 10 to be released. The Basic 10 LE is a great knife and was one of the few Busse's to be offered with the choil/no choil option. I just wish that we'd have the option of this the majority of the time rather than once in a blue moon it seems, but that's a different matter entirely.....:p

I recently traded my choilless B10LE with the intent of grabbing another down the line, I just found that it was a bit too large/long to be realistically carried anywhere other than remote wilderness regions.

That being said though, I believe you'd be seriously hard pressed to find a better value in the world of INFI than the B10LE. The $337 retail price that they sold for is just unreal for a 10" blade of satin INFI.......

Definitely gotta give props to Jerry for delivering a serious price/performance ratio on the B10LE, and really the entire Basic line for that matter.....

I'd actually go so far as to say that if I could only have/carry one Busse, price not being a factor even....... I'd choose the Basic 10 LE in the choilless configuration. I think that says it all for me, if you've got the means to go for one of these over a R9 or 911 I'd say go for it!!!

Man, I would love to get my hands on a Rat Mastiff! I've seen maybe one pop up on the exchange and that thing went QUICK! So many Busse and kin, so little time....er, money. As far as modding, I really can't wait to get that started, I'm planning on picking up a small belt grinder from Harbor Freight in the next couple weeks. I'm still very new to the modification side of things, and all the mods that I see pop up in various threads just make me wanna get started that much more!!

Dang, bro, that's one shining endorsement. I gotta say tho, out of all the larger Busse that I've seen, the choilless B10LE is one that I simply cannot get out of my head. Incidentally, also the first knife I've ever seen that I preferred without a choil as opposed to with. I hear ya on the level of carry that you can do with it tho; despite the fact that I live in Louisiana and the knife laws are INFInitely (har har har) more relaxed than my ancestral homeland, New Jersey, I doubt I'd be able to tote it around other than camping or on my property. My birthday is coming up, so I'm gonna see what happens with the R9/911 situation (fingers crossed so hard the circulation is cut off :p), but if that doesn't pan out, I may have to post for a choilless B10 in WTB, if one doesn't show up on the exchange. I was planning on trying out some SR101, but I must say, you've certainly reignited my interest in the B10 :D
