Ive been carrying the new one to work for a week and a half straight now, and I gotta say, it's fantastic. It's such a good looking knife, and it just begs to be put to work. I put my own edge on it when it arrived, used it daily, and it's not even close to needing a touch up yet. In case anyone had a doubt, Todd does D2 just as well as the other steels he uses.

Beautiful knife! That was an awesome grab! Did you use an fixed angle sharpener to put your own edge on it? And if so I'm curious as to what angle you put on it?

Thanks guys! No fixed angle, I do it freehand on stones, which usually ends up around 35 degrees total. A little more acute than what it comes with. I use Shapton stones up to 8k grit then strop to a mirror. Finally this weekend it wouldn't shave anymore, although it still felt sharp. A couple passes on the strop brought it right back.

Good to know your experience with using the D2 Ben. I have one in the works with D2 being the steel of choice this time.

How's it looking so far Todd :)

edit: thanks for the message...stay tuned everyone

Awesome thanks! And that looks like pretty good work to have been done freehand!!

Well it looks like Todd burned the midnight oil and was able to get the work done on my latest knife. 3-7/8" closed, D2 steel, scales are from a block of 3400 year old Ukranian Bog Oak that I purchased a while back. I think it came out awesome!

Daaaaaaang that's sweet! Nice one, Jake. I love the blade shape, kind of a cross between a clip and a drop point. That Oak is gorgeous too, I wonder what it's like to work with.

Thanks Todd, Al, Ben and Spencer. Not sure how that wood is to work with but being that it's stabilized, I wouldn't think that it would be that different than other stabilized woods. Maybe the high mineral content changes the properties of it though.

I'd be interested in hearing Todd's thoughts on it.

Jake,
It looks like a slip joint that a CLASSY biker would carry.
I really like the coined edge placement and the COOL ( 1/8 " ? ) blade.
NICELY SHAPED BEAUTIFUL SCALES.

p.s.
Neat #

You got it Tim, 1/8" blade stock. I'm really glad Todd made the shield big!

Yeah the shield is the attention getter. Large shields look best when there's no bolster. And then you notice the wood and lots of it because there's no bolster..... wow man. Perfect design elements. Awesome Davison. congrats! can't wait to see the in-hand photos.

Love the bog oak! Been wanting a knife with bog oak scales for a long time. Very cool Jake.

Thanks everyone. Should have it in a couple days so I'll be sure to update with some more pictures.
