T~bone Tuesday

Today's Case old red bone is rather pink in bright sunlight, this was my first peanut, so I still like it.

Paul, if you want to darken that then try giving it a dyeing with strong tea. Worked on my CASE Humpback Whittler whose red was too lipstickish for my taste. It will blacken the cv blades and backspring nicely too! Blaine had a short tutorial on this but it's easy. Very strong tea, pinch of salt and soak for three four hours. degrease the bone first with ligher fuel or similar.Regards, W

Case's "Chestnut Bone" is closer to the old Red Bone of years past, IMO. This one was made in 2000.

ah I see someone beat me to it with the Huckleberry GEC...

this is the GEC Primitive bone: 2 different colours

and this is some older 1950s red jigged bone on a German knife (top)

I still like that faded SAK a lot. Just what I need - a new interest in another brand of knife!:D I would like to see the blades out sometime. I wonder if this is an old discontinued knife or a knife that can be readily found on the knife market?? :)

Thank you! Here's an older pic of them open (I can take a better one if you need me to and add it here after lunch).

The red ALOX Pioneers/Farmers with the simple cross are discontinued but easily found on the bay but careful, as others will tell you, they are addictive. :D The new ones are silver (other colors avail too) with the new Vic shield (also seen in the above pic). Swiss Bianco Canada still has new red Pioneers (but with the new shield).

No need to take another pic, those were fine - and thanks for the info. I reckon I am a SAK dummy.:)

Today I'm carrying a beautiful little Boker USA pen knife, a gift from willgoy. Love that butterscotch bone!

Coincidently it is an Alox SAK that brings me here today...well kind of. I had been carrying humble Danish Bantam these past four days and I had a real hankering for something equally as pocketable, but in a more boney and carboney (sic) flavour ;)

My great Case Swayback Jack, gifted by Willgoy, and much loved by me :)
I just love the rich colour and superb jigging on this wee fella, so tactile.

Thank you again Will
